S3 guideline diagnostics and therapy in alopecia areata – Part 2: Therapy, psychosocial and cosmetic support

open access: yesJDDG: Journal der Deutschen Dermatologischen Gesellschaft, EarlyView.
Summary This second part of the S3 guideline on the diagnosis and treatment of alopecia areata (AA), presents key recommendations on topical and systemic therapy, quality of life and support services. The first part of the guideline, published separately, covers the definition and content of epidemiology and diagnosis as well as comorbidities, risk and

Comparison of the Excimer Lamp vs. Narrowband Ultraviolet (Nb-Uvb) Lamp or 308 nm Excimer Laser in Vitiligo Repigmentation: A Systematic Review

open access: yesDermato
Objective: To conduct a systematic review of the literature evaluating the efficacy of the 308 nm excimer lamp in comparison to narrowband ultraviolet B (NB-UVB) and the 308 nm excimer laser for inducing repigmentation in vitiligo.

Microhollow Cathode Discharge Excimer Lamps

open access: yes, 2000
Microhollow cathode discharges are high-pressure, nonequilibrium gas discharges between a hollow cathode and a planar or hollow anode with electrode dimensions in the 100 μm range. The large concentration of high-energy electrons, in combination with the

Development of CCMb: A Low‐Mg Calcite Reference Material for In Situ Measurement of δ18O, δ13C and Selected Trace Elements

open access: yesGeostandards and Geoanalytical Research, EarlyView.
Key Points Low‐Mg calcite RM developed for in situ microanalysis applications in palaeoclimatology (δ18O, δ13C; Mg, Sr m/m). New data for calcite CRM IAEA‐603 (δ18O, δ13C by SIMS and GS‐IRMS; Mg m/m). No detectable IMF effect of Mg on SIMS δ18O determinations for mass fractions < 3650 μg g‐1.

Assessment and Correction of Non‐Linearity Effects for In Situ Rb‐Sr Geochronology Applied to High 87Rb/86Sr Mica

open access: yesGeostandards and Geoanalytical Research, EarlyView.
Key Points Measurement of 86Sr at count rates < 1500 cps can result in statistical bias. Non‐linear signals in analogue detection mode (e.g., Rb) present a challenge for accurately dating high 87Rb/86Sr mica (> 1000). Accounting for these considerations, high 87Rb/86Sr mica are dated here with accuracies of ∼ 1%.

Electrohydrodynamic excimer laser: Ultra-compact system and laser energy performance dynamics

open access: yesAPL Photonics
Excimer lasers, essential deep ultraviolet gas light sources, have consistently encountered significant challenges in achieving miniaturization while maintaining high performance. These challenges have limited their broader application and development in

Heavy ion beam pumped KrF* excimer laser

open access: yes, 2007
The high energy loss of heavy ions in matter as well as the small angular scattering makes heavy ion beams an excellent tool to produce almost cylindrical and homogeneously excited volumes in matter.

Resolving Micrometre‐Scale Zircon Growth in Silicic Systems by 7 μm LA‐MC‐ICP‐MS U‐Pb Dating: Linking Petrology and Geochronology in Silicic Volcanic and Granitic Rocks from Victoria, Australia

open access: yesGeostandards and Geoanalytical Research, EarlyView.
Key Points 7 μm spot‐diameter LA‐MC‐ICP‐MS analyses yield accurate zircon U‐Pb ages. 1013 Ω amplifier resistors improve low‐signal Pb measurements. Saturn correction protocols minimise down‐hole fractionation effects. We present a systematic evaluation of high spatial‐resolution zircon U‐Pb dating using a Thermo Scientific Neoma multi‐collector ICP‐MS ...
