Excimer Laser Application For Cataract Surgery
SPIE Proceedings, 1988The ablation threshold of bovine lenses was determined for excimer laser radiatiF at 308 nanreters. The ablation th5eshold for bovine lenses was approximately 0.6J/cm +/-0.1J/cm , for cortex and 1J/cm for nucleus. The threshold for bovine nucleus was higher than the threshold for cortex and difference was statistically significant at the 0.05 level ...

Application Of Excimer Lasers In Endoscopic Surgery
SPIE Proceedings, 1988We report measurements of damage threshold and transparency of quartz fibers for the λ= 248, 308 and 351 nm radiation. Thresholds and specific energy for tissue photoablation have been determined for these wavelengths. Results of clinical applications of UV fiber laser scalpels for angioplasty and extirpation of tumours from bronchi are discussed.

PURPOSE Given that the standard keratometric refractive index of 1.3375 is no longer valid after excimer laser surgery, we aimed to investigate how this value changes postoperatively and if any correlation to the attempted correction exists.

Excimer laser in arthroscopic surgery
SPIE Proceedings, 1991The development of efficient high-power lasersystems for use in surgery, especially in arthroscopic fields, leads to a new push for all endoscopic techniques. Both techniques, laser and endoscope, complete each other in an ideal way and allow applications which could not be reached with conventional techniques.

Excimer lasers for refractive surgery
SPIE Proceedings, 2003Over the last decade excimer lasers have been broadly used for technological and medical processes. One of the most widespread applications of excimer laser is the clinical use for refractive surgery. Refractive surgery with excimer lasers is the prevalent method for the eye acuity correction.

Evolution of excimer laser corneal surgery
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 1989Interest in the potential of the excimer laser for refractive surgery was generated by a series of experiments performed in IBM's T.J. Watson laboratories. The development of photoablative decomposition was applied to corneas with immediate implication for corneal refractive control.
