Excimer laser-induced vasoreactivity
European Heart Journal, 1993Earlier generations of excimer lasers, designed for industrial or non-cardiovascular medical applications, have been previously shown consistently to induce vasorelaxation of vascular smooth muscle in vitro. Such lasers were typically characterized by pulse durations of < or = 15 nanoseconds (ns).

Excimer laser coronary angioplasty
The American Journal of Cardiology, 1992Recent experience with excimer laser coronary angioplasty (ELCA) has shown the safety and efficacy of the technique in the treatment of coronary stenosis, with results similar to percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA). Several advantages of the excimer laser for intravascular use have been identified by the ELCA Registry, a group of 15 ...

International Laser Science Conference, 1986
From their first lasing demonstration in the mid-1970s, excimer lasers have rapidly evolved and now have excellent potential for a wide variety of military and civilian applications. They are the most efficient ultraviolet lasers to date and recent technology advancements have shown they are scalable to large pulse energies and possibly high average ...

Excimer laser photorefractive keratectomy
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1995Excimer laser photorefractive keratectomy has been used for the correction of myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. This laser removes tissue through a process termed photoablative decomposition, in which incident photon energy is sufficient to break molecular bonds.

Excimer Laser Calibration System
Journal of Refractive Surgery, 1996ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: Excimer laser photoablation for refractive and therapeutic keratectomies has been demonstrated to be feasible and practicable. However, corneal laser ablations are not without problems, including the delivery and maintenance of a homogeneous beam.

Excimer Laser Coronary Angioplasty
Cardiology Clinics, 1994Excimer laser angioplasty has evolved from a difficult experimental procedure to a more refined intervention with flexible catheters, well-defined indications, and consistent results for certain lesion types such as aortoostial stenosis, total occlusions, and certain saphenous vein graft lesions.

Excimer Laser Radial Keratotomy
Ophthalmology, 1985The central corneal flattening obtained by radial diamond knife incisions has been duplicated by radial laser incisions in 18 enucleated human eyes. The incisions, made by 193 nm far-ultraviolet light radiation emitted by the excimer laser, produced corneal flattening ranging from 0.12 to 5.35 diopters.

To the Editor. —The article by Nanevicz et al,1in the December 1986 issue of theArchives, is of interest, as we also have an interest in the concept of using pulsed ultraviolet (UV) radiation for the removal of cataractous lenses. We agree with the authors that there are "significant challenges in developing an appropriate endocular delivery system ...

Excimer Laser Phototherapeutic Keratectomy
The Ocular Surface, 2006Anterior corneal pathology, such as corneal scars and corneal stromal dystrophies, can be visually devastating. Over the past decade, there was a shift in treatment of these conditions from corneal transplantation to phototherapeutic keratectomy (PTK) using the 193 nm excimer laser for visual restoration.
