Holographic superfluid with excited states

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2023
We construct a novel family of solutions of the holographic superfluid model with the excited states in the probe limit. We observe that the higher excited state or larger superfluid velocity will make the scalar hair more difficult to be developed, and ...

Real‐time assay of ribonucleotide reductase activity with a fluorescent RNA aptamer

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ribonucleotide reductases (RNR) synthesize DNA building blocks de novo, making them crucial in DNA replication and drug targeting. FLARE introduces the first single‐tube real‐time coupled RNR assay, which enables isothermal tracking of RNR activity at nanomolar enzyme levels and allows the reconstruction of allosteric regulatory patterns and rapid ...

Robust excitonic light emission in 2D tin halide perovskites by weak excited state polaronic effect

open access: yesNature Communications
2D perovskites hold immense promise in optoelectronics due to their strongly bound electron-hole pairs (i.e., excitons). While exciton polaron from interplay between exciton and lattice has been established in 2D lead-based perovskites, the exciton ...

Masses of ground and excited-state hadrons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We present the first Dyson-Schwinger equation calculation of the light hadron spectrum that simultaneously correlates the masses of meson and baryon ground- and excited-states within a single framework.

Substrate specificity of Burkholderia pseudomallei multidrug transporters is influenced by the hydrophilic patch in the substrate‐binding pocket

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Multidrug transporters BpeB and BpeF from the Gram‐negative pathogen Burkholderia pseudomallei have a hydrophilic patch in their substrate‐binding pocket. Drug susceptibility tests and growth curve analyses using an Escherichia coli recombinant expression system revealed that the hydrophilic patches of BpeB and BpeF are involved in the substrate ...

Unexpected properties of the first excited state of non-bipartite Heisenberg spin rings

open access: yes, 2000
Systematic properties of the first excited state are presented for various ring sizes and spin quantum numbers which are only partly covered by the theorem of Lieb, Schultz and Mattis.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

The scissors mode from a different perspective

open access: yes, 2015
The scissors mode, a magnetic dipole excitation-mainly orbital is usually discussed in terms of a transition from a J=0^{+} ground state to a J=1^{+} excited state.

Time-dependent photoionization of azulene: Competition between ionization and relaxation in highly excited states [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Pump-probe photoionization has been used to map the relaxation processes taking place from highly vibrationally excited levels of the S2 state of azulene, populated directly or via internal conversion from the S4 state.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
