Performance analysis of control allocation using data‐driven integral quadratic constraints

open access: yesAdvanced Control for Applications, Volume 4, Issue 4, December 2022., 2022
Abstract A new method is presented for evaluating the performance of a nonlinear control allocation system within a linear control loop. To that end, a worst‐case gain analysis problem is formulated that can be readily solved by means of well‐established methods from robustness analysis using integral quadratic constraints (IQCs).

Ab initio oscillator strengths for transitions between J=1 odd and J=1,2 even excited states of Ne I [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Ab initio theory is developed for radiative transitions between excited states of neon. Calculations of energies for even excited states J=1, J=2 supplement our previous calculations for J=1 odd excited states. Line strengths for transitions between J=1 odd and J=1,2 even states of Ne I are evaluated.

Entanglement Entropy of Excited States in the Quantum Lifshitz Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
In this work we calculate the entanglement entropy of certain excited states of the quantum Lifshitz model. The quantum Lifshitz model is a 2 + 1-dimensional bosonic quantum field theory with an anisotropic scaling symmetry between space and time that belongs to the universality class of the quantum dimer model and its generalizations.

Unbound excited states in 19,17C [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2008
The neutron-rich carbon isotopes 19,17C have been investigated via proton inelastic scattering on a liquid hydrogen target at 70 MeV/nucleon. The invariant mass method in inverse kinematics was employed to reconstruct the energy spectrum, in which fast neutrons and charged fragments were detected in coincidence using a neutron hodoscope and a dipole ...

Etoposide‐induced cancer cell death: roles of mitochondrial VDAC1 and calpain, and resistance mechanisms

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The complex mode of action of the topoisomerase II inhibitor etoposide in triggering apoptosis involves several mechanisms: overexpression of the mitochondrial protein VDAC1, leading to its oligomerization and formation of a large channel that mediates the release of pro‐apoptotic protein; and overexpression of the apoptosis regulators p53, Bax, and ...

Respiratory complex I‐mediated NAD+ regeneration regulates cancer cell proliferation through the transcriptional and translational control of p21Cip1 expression by SIRT3 and SIRT7

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
NAD+ regeneration by mitochondrial complex I NADH dehydrogenase is important for cancer cell proliferation. Specifically, NAD+ is necessary for the activities of NAD+‐dependent deacetylases SIRT3 and SIRT7, which suppress the expression of p21Cip1 cyclin‐dependent kinase inhibitor, an antiproliferative molecule, at the translational and transcriptional

Solvent-derived defects suppress adsorption in MOF-74

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Defects in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have great impact on their nano-scale structure and physiochemical properties. However, isolated defects are easily concealed when the frameworks are interrogated by typical characterization methods.

Excited-State Polarizabilities: A Combined Density Functional Theory and Information-Theoretic Approach Study

open access: yesMolecules, 2023
Accurate and efficient determination of excited-state polarizabilities (α) is an open problem both experimentally and computationally. Following our previous work, (Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys.

The calorimetric detection of excited states [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Research of the National Bureau of Standards Section A: Physics and Chemistry, 1976
Calorimetric techniques offer the photophysicist and photochemist the opportunity to measure a number of parameters of excited states which may be difficult to obtain by other techniques. The calorimetric strategy seeks to measure the heating of a sample resulting from radiationless decays or chemical reactions of excited states.

Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.
