Fundamental study on a high-frequency vibration evaluation in a test stand for magnetically levitated vehicles

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2015
This paper proposes a method to simulate the primary bending vibration in a test stand consisting of one-third segment car body and a full-scale bogie of magnetically levitated (maglev) vehicles.

Direct Measurement of Motor Excitation Force

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series C, 2004
The direct measurement method of motor excitation force was investigated using a test system with a capacitor motor and a load cell. First, the direct measurement method was analyzed by using a two-degrees of freedom system theoretically. Several analyses were performed to investigate the influence of the stiffness of the structure for supporting a ...

Study on Optimal Damping Model of Very Large Offshore Semi-submersible Structure

open access: yes한국해양공학회지, 2018
In order to analyze the response of the offshore structure numerically, the linear potential theory is generally applied for simplicity, and only the radiation damping is considered among various damping forces.

Application of saturated core transformer as inrush current limiter

open access: yese-Prime: Advances in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Energy
An inrush current is a transient current that results from a sudden change in the exciting voltage across a transformer's windings. Reducing the inrush current of transformers is desirable due to mechanical stresses and negligent operation of protective ...

Effect of panel method codes in estimating the time-domain responses of floating wind turbines

open access: yesBrodogradnja
This study investigates the impact of frequency-domain hydrodynamic outputs from several panel method codes on estimating time domain responses of floating wind turbines. The tools under examination are WAMIT and three open-source codes (HAMS, NEMOH, and

Pulsations in close binaries: challenges and opportunities

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2015
CoRoT and Kepler provided a precious by-product: a number of eclipsing binaries containing variable stars and, among these, non-radial pulsators. This providential occurrence allows combining independent information from two different phenomena whose ...

Friction Force for Self-Excited Systems

open access: yes, 2002
The paper presents a model for low friction made up of a self-excited oscillator sliding along a periodic potential. It is shown that if the self-excitation affects a body sliding tangentially to a surface, than stick-slip modification and reduction of energy dissipation during the motion are observed.
