Hagen Replies to Hirschfeld (2008)
Hirschfeld's (2008) thoughtful comments on my article on the bilingual brain are a valuable contribution to what I find to be an exciting and fruitful interdisciplinary investigation in evolutionary linguistics.

Time Domain Simulation of Ship Motion in Irregular Oblique Waves
Ship harmonic motion is an important and practical characteristic in ship design and performance evaluation. The development and optimization of hull-form, ship’s dynamic effects, seakeeping performance, and motion control, all require the motion data ...

Nuclear forces and nuclear excited states
In this work, the role of the central, spin-force and tensor forces of two-nucleon interaction in building the first 2$^+$ and 4$^+$ states of 20 sd-shell nuclei is studied. Calculations are performed within the framework of the nuclear shell model. It is shown that the central force predominantly contributes to the excitation energy.

Enhancements of Wave Power Absorption with Arrays and a Vertical Breakwater
The capability of the in-house transient wave-multibody computational tool, ITU-WAVE, is extended to predict the wave power absorption with Wave Energy Converters (WECs) arrays placed in front of a vertical breakwater.

MODERN NUMERICAL TECHNIQUES FOR THE SHIPS SAFETY ESTIMATION IN CRITICAL CONDITIONS
In this paper a method for a ship safety estimation at the preliminary stage of design is briefly presented. Solving a few hydrostatic and dynamical problems may be taken into account using the method with special regards to the ships safety estimation ...

Influence of delayed excitation on vibrations of turbine blades couple
In the presented paper, the computational model of the turbine blade couple is investigated with the main attention to the influence two harmonic excitation forces, having the same frequency and amplitude but with moderate delay in time.
