The trion as an exciton interacting with a carrier

open access: yes, 2003
The X$^-$ trion is essentially an electron bound to an exciton. However, due to the composite nature of the exciton, there is no way to write an exciton-electron interaction potential.

Probing exciton diffusion dynamics in photosynthetic supercomplexes via exciton–exciton annihilation [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics
Photosynthesis converts solar energy into chemical energy through coordinated energy transfer between light-harvesting complexes and reaction centers (RCs). Understanding exciton motion, particularly the exciton diffusion length, is essential for optimizing energy efficiency in photosystems.

Orbital Geometry‐Governed Response of Pressure‐Tunable Quantum Defects in hBN

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Defects in hBN act as ultrasensitive quantum manometers when the energy of the intradefect optical transitions is modified by lattice compression. The orbital geometry of the electron wave functions governs how electron hopping and Coulomb interactions react uniquely to the reduction of the van der Waals gap and in‐plane compression, leading to robust ...

Ultrasensitive Anti‐Stokes Luminescence Thermometry in Transition Metal Dichalcogenide Monolayers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate a highly sensitive nanothermometer using anti‐Stokes photoluminescence, also known as photoluminescence upconversion (UPL), in monolayer tungsten disulfide. A strong resonantly enhanced UPL is observed, confirming the central role of optical phonons in the PL upconversion mechanism.

Fluorescent Nanosensor for Indole‐3‐Propionic Acid Detection in Gut Health Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a fluorescent nanosensor system with two optical modalities for detection of indole‐3‐propionic acid (IPA) gut metabolite: (1) blue‐emitting cationic conjugated polyelectrolyte (CP3) and (2) near‐infrared (NIR)‐emitting CP3‐wrapped single‐walled carbon nanotube (SWNT).

Excitonic Evolution in WS2/MoS2 van der Waals Heterostructures Turned by Out-of-Plane Localized Pressure

open access: yesApplied Sciences
In this study, we explore the exciton dynamics in a WS2/MoS2 van der Waals (vdW) heterostructure under varying pressures by integrating a laser-confocal photoluminescence (PL) spectroscope and an atomic force microscope (AFM).

Ferroelectric Quantum Dots for Retinomorphic In‐Sensor Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work has provided a protocol for fabricating retinomorphic phototransistors by integrating ferroelectric ligands with quantum dots. The resulting device combines ferroelectricity, optical responsiveness, and low‐power operation to enable adaptive signal amplification and high recognition accuracy under low‐light conditions, while supporting ...
