Self‐Assembled Inorganic Nanomembrane Tubes: Rolled‐Up Piezoelectrics for Microacoustic Wave‐Based Actuators and Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates a self‐assembly process to generate free‐standing piezoelectric nanomembranes, forming ultracompact microtubular acoustic wave sensors and actuators. The miniaturized 3D piezoelectric platform reported in this work can be applied in telecommunication, energy harvesting, and acoustofluidics. Moreover, the 3D self‐assembly can add

VAT Grouping and the Cost-Sharing Exemption: Similarities, Differences, and their Interaction

open access: yes, 2018
The present thesis deals with two different provisions in the VAT Directive, the VAT grouping, provided in Article 11 of the VAT Directive, and the cost-sharing exemption, provided in Article 132(1)(f) of the VAT Directive.

Flexoelectrically Induced Polar Topology in Twisted SrTiO3 Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Twisted SrTiO3 bilayers host polar vortices of flexoelectric origin, revealed through combined experiment and theory. By reconstructing polarization from the toroidal moment of strain gradients, the work establishes a 3D chiral state with broken inversion and mirror symmetries.

Atomistic Mechanisms Triggered by Joule Heating Effects in Metallic Cu‐Bi Nanowires for Spintronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bi doped metallic Cu nanowires are promising for spintronics thanks to the stabilization of a giant spin Hall effect. However, heat resulting from current injection forces Bi to leave solution, forcing segregation into monoatomic decorations which evolve into coherent crystalline aggregates.

3D Anodic Alumina Nanoarchitectures: A Decade of Progress from Foundational Science to Functional Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ordered three‐dimensional anodic aluminum oxide (3D‐AAO) nanoarchitectures with longitudinal and transverse pores enable architecture‐driven metamaterials. The review maps fabrication advances, including hybrid pulse anodization, and shows how 3D‐AAO templates tailor properties across magnetism, energy, catalysis, and sensing.

Business Method Patents, Innovation, and Policy [PDF]

open access: yes
The trickle of business method patents issued by the United States Patent Office became a flood after the State Street Bank decision in 1998. Many scholars, both legal and economic, have critiqued both the quality of these patents and the decision itself.
