Advanced exergy analysis of an aircraft gas turbine engine: Splitting exergy destructions into parts

open access: yesEnergy, 2015
Abstract Advanced exergy analysis of an aircraft gas turbine engine is presented in this paper. In this framework, the main exergy parameters of the engine components are introduced while the exergy destruction rates within the engine components are split into endogenous/exogenous and avoidable/unavoidable parts.

Performance comparison of pressure swing adsorption and amine‐based absorption for synthesis gas purification

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 104, Issue 9, Page 5012-5027, September 2026.
Comparison of PSA and amine‐based absorption for syngas purification shows that PSA offers lower energy intensity, global warming potential, and minimum selling price, making it a more sustainable option. However, absorption achieves higher syngas purity. A GREENSCOPE‐based multi‐criteria assessment guides optimal process selection.

Rethinking Climate Change on the Role of Human Power Generation, Alternative Perspectives, Potential Solutions, and a Plea for Action

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, Volume 98, Issue 8, Page 514-524, August 2026.
All energy matters Let us broaden the discussion on solutions to climate change. Greenhouse gases have upset the delicate equilibrium of the Earth's energy balance. Consequently, all sources of heat affect the temperature of the Earth. Although the amount of additional heat generated by humans is a fraction of that produced by the sun, it is generated ...

MHD Heat Transfer Enhancement in TiO2‐Fe3O4/Water Hybrid Nanofluid Over a Porous Stretching/Shrinking Surface With Suction/Injection and Heat Source Effects

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 8, August 2026.
Magnetohydrodynamic flow of TiO2‐Fe3O4/water hybrid nanofluid over a porous stretching/shrinking surface enhances heat transfer under Joule heating and radiation effects. Thermal performance improves with nanoparticle concentration and Eckert number, while suction reduces heat transport, highlighting its potential for advanced industrial cooling ...

Analysis of Exergy Destruction of an Evaporator or/and a Condenser

open access: yesStrojarstvo : časopis za teoriju i praksu u strojarstvu, 2009
This paper presents the exergy destruction of an evaporator or a condenser or evaporator and condenser. The exergy destruction can be analytically calculated by using the same non-dimensional variables which have been used by its energy analysis. The one additional variable is the ratio of absolute input temperatures of both streams.

Energy, Exergy and Cost of Exergy Destruction for Coal-Fired Boiler in the Beverage Industry

open access: yesJournal of Renewable Energy and Smart Grid Technology
This paper performs an energy and exergy analysis based on data obtained from selected boilers in the beverage industry. The boiler output is 16 tons/h with a pressure of 8 bar, and the steam output is saturated vapor. A boiler is designed for coal - fired fuel (sub-bituminous coal) with an economizer (heat exchanger) for recovered waste heat.

Design and Dynamic Response Characteristics Analysis of Hydrogen Fuel Cell Ship Combined Cooling and Power Supply System

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 8, August 2026.
An integrated hybrid energy storage and cogeneration system with CE‐DPS effectively stabilizes DC bus voltage in hydrogen fuel cell marine vessels. The proposed multi‐tier control suppresses voltage fluctuations, eliminates overshoot, and improves energy efficiency, achieving 68% exergy efficiency and 15.6% fuel savings.

"Visualizing the exergy destructed in exergy delivery chain in relation to human thermal comfort with ExFlow"

open access: yesHealthy, Intelligent and Resilient Buildings and Urban Environments, 2018
Exergy analysis is an important tool to fully appreciate the usability of energy at different levels and has been widely applied in the building system analysis domain. It has became more useful as low temperature heating and high temperature cooling began to attract more attention both in Europe and the United States.

Environmental Thermoeconomic Performance Analysis of Gas Steam Combined Cycle With Different Inlet Air Cooling Technologies

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 8, Page 3638-3655, August 2026.
This study establishes an environmental thermoeconomic cost model to investigate the impact of two IAC technologies on the performance of a GSCC from three aspects of energy, economy, and environment. Under arid climate conditions, the SEC technology demonstrates superior performance in terms of cost‐effectiveness and environmental impact.
