Prevalence and causative allergens of contact cheilitis in Thailand

In patients referred for patch testing, cheilitis prevalence was 7.6% (410/5366), with 32% diagnosed as allergic contact cheilitis. Common contact allergens included the patient's products, nickel sulfate, potassium dichromate, castor oil and benzalkonium chloride, mainly sourced from lip cosmetics and toothpastes.
