De novo or Salvage? Nucleotide Availability as a Driver of Bacterial Adaptation and Virulence

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 4, August 2026.
Bacterial pathogens survive in different host environments by switching between making nucleotides by de novo synthesis and scavenging them from the host. This flexibility supports growth and virulence making nucleotide metabolism an attractive therapeutic target.

Time course of perceptual, cognitive, physical and physiological responses to a single non‐sleep deep rest session in physically active young adults

open access: yesApplied Psychology: Health and Well-Being, Volume 18, Issue 4, August 2026.
Abstract Non‐sleep deep rest (NSDR), a brief guided relaxation technique involving slow breathing and sequential body awareness, has recently been proposed as a practical rest strategy. However, evidence on its short‐term time course and physiological responses remains limited.

Disproportional ventilatory response to incremental exercise in individuals with cerebral palsy

open access: yesDevelopmental Medicine &Child Neurology, Volume 68, Issue 8, Page 1139-1151, August 2026.
Individuals with cerebral palsy demonstrate a disproportionate ventilatory response during incremental exercise. Compared with typically developing peers, respiratory frequency increases earlier and at comparable exercise intensities, contributing to higher perceived exertion and reduced ventilatory efficiency. At task failure, respiratory frequency is

Latent density discrepancies in commercial lung‐equivalent inserts and their clinical dosimetric impact

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 27, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Background Accurate heterogeneity correction in high‐precision radiotherapy relies on precise computed tomography (CT) number‐to‐density conversion via the Hounsfield unit look‐up table (HLUT). While physical properties of tissue‐equivalent materials are generally assumed consistent with manufacturer specifications, an independent audit ...

Portable Breathing Monitoring With Phase‐Resolved Airflow Dynamics Enabled by a Dual‐Response Flexible PZT Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 25, 3 July 2026.
A portable respiratory monitoring device based on a flexible PZT sensor captures pressure‐ and temperature‐related airflow responses in a single waveform. Polarity‐opposed piezoelectric and pyroelectric components generate a narrow transient spike and a broad quasi‐steady peak during both inhalation and exhalation. This dual‐component structure enables
