A new model to accurately measure the radon exhalation rate from soil using AlphaGUARD.

Journal of Environmental Radioactivity, 2023
Radon exhalation rate from soil is a critical factor in evaluating environmental radon levels. However, AlphaGUARD PQ2000PRO may have some sensitivity towards thoron, which can have a significant impact on radon measurement.

Radiological assessment of radon concentration, radon exhalation rate, and annual effective dose of building materials used in Erbil city Kurdistan region, Iraq

International Journal of Environmental Analytical Chemistry, 2022
Radon gas has long been connected with human public health risks. Building materials, one of the biggest producers of this gas in enclosed areas, are thought to be among the most important channels of this gas.

Evaluation and measurement methods for the surface radon exhalation rate of buildings

Indoor and Built Environment, 2022
Half of the natural radiation dose to the human body comes from indoor radon and its progeny, inhaling of which plays a key role in the development of lung cancer.

Measurement of radon exhalation rate from building materials: The case of Highland Region of Ecuador

Construction and Building Materials, 2021
Exposure to 222-Radon (Rn) usually occurs in closed environments as effect of the Rn exhaled from building materials, soil or water. While building materials provide a protection barrier to outdoor natural radiation (terrestrial and cosmic), their ...

Exhaled Methane Is Associated with a Lower Heart Rate

Cardiology, 2021
<b><i>Background:</i></b> In humans, methane (CH4) is exclusively produced by the intestinal microbiota and has been implicated in several conditions including cardiovascular disease. After microbial production of CH4 in the gut, it steadily crosses into the systemic circulation and ...

Diffusion Model of Radon Exhalation Rates

Health Physics, 1998
Radon migration through walls is considered using an effective diffusion model. One and two dimensional models as well as a spherical geometry are compared. It is concluded that either the 1-dimensional or spherical model, both having analytical solution, may be used for practical purposes. Application is made for typical cases in Athens, Greece.

Radon Exhalation Rate from Various Building Materials

Health Physics, 1993
Solid-state alpha-track detectors using cellulose nitrate films were used to measure the radon exhalation rates from building materials. The radon flux emitted from the surface of the building material was measured by placing an inverted cup on the top of the building material. Cellulose nitrate film was placed within the cup.
