Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Assessment of the functioning of biofuel-powered engines based on a multi-criteria analysis [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences
Reducing the emission of exhaust gas components into the natural environment from the transport sector is a priority. In recent years, the European Union has published many legal acts that regulate the emission of exhaust gas components. One of the known

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

MITIGATION MEASURE FOR VEHICLES EXHAUST EMISSION [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Science, 2017
Motor vehicle emissions have shown to be of hazardous health influences. Its impact is amplified in urban areas such as the Greater Cairo Region (GCR). It is reported that the number of motor vehicles in Cairo is increasing at a rate of approximately 200,
