Thermal and burial history of the axial Arcabuco-Floresta segment, Eastern Cordillera basin, Colombia: evidence from low-temperature thermochronology and numerical modelling

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
The axial Arcabuco-Floresta segment of the Eastern Cordillera basin, Colombia exhibits a complex geological history characterized by both along and across strike variations in deformation and exhumation, as well as magmatic activity, all of which provide

Seascapes, personhood and humanity: Conceptualising the contribution of international human rights law to sustainable governance of the marine environment

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 8, Issue 5, Page 1128-1140, May 2026.
Abstract Despite longstanding research on human rights and the environment, scholarship has only recently moved towards an explicit connection to the marine environment. At the same time, research on human rights and oceans focuses on people at sea, not environmental protection.

Interior Rifting Coupled With Peripheral Subduction in the Rodinia Supercontinent: New Insights From the Tarim Craton

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract After assembly, supercontinents are shaped by internal rifting and peripheral subduction. However, the geodynamic relationship between these two processes and their respective contributions to supercontinent breakup remain poorly understood.

Whose body? A study of attitudes towards the dead body in early modern Paris [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
This chapter examines attitudes towards the dead body, as exemplified by arrangements for funerals and burials, in Paris between around 1550 and 1670.

Influence of Inherited Rifted Margin Architecture on Continental Collision Dynamics

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Continental collision is a key process in lithospheric evolution, driving mountain building, crustal thickening, and supercontinent assembly. Within the Wilson cycle, collision marks the final stage following rifting, ocean spreading, and subduction.

Radiolysis and Fe‐Biotite Alteration: Questioning the Origin of H2‐Bearing Fluid Inclusions in the Yorke Peninsula Granites, South Australia

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Multiple drillings in the Yorke Peninsula, South Australia, recently confirmed the presence of natural hydrogen (H2) in shallow sedimentary units. While radiolysis and Fe‐oxidation in the basement are potential generation mechanisms, their respective contributions remain unconstrained.

'Not just bones': a cultural and political history of mass grave exhumations in Spain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper I analyze the exhumations of mass graves of the Spanish Civil War (1936–39) and dictatorship (1939–75) as spaces where processes of attribution of meaning take place, and I’ll propose a provisional thesis on how cultural and political ...

Block‐in‐Matrix Deformation and Veining in Alpine Subducted Oceanic Metasediments at Blueschist Facies Conditions

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract In subduction zones, the locked seismogenic zone is bordered by an upper and a lower transition zone. In these transition zones, deformation is primarily accommodated by an interplay of diffuse viscous deformation within a weak matrix and brittle deformation in stiffer bands and blocks.
