Graph‐Theory Approach to Element Miscibility and Alloy Design

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Graph and network theory enables pathway toward complex multiscale interactions between different elements for alloy design or interface engineering. Utilizing element's inherent properties and preferential interactivity, favorable mixed material formation, solubility and miscibility can be predicted.

Meter‐Scale Ultra‐Large‐Area Flexible Electroluminescent Devices Enabled by Aerosol Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a simple aerosol spraying method using modified luminescent ink to fabricate meter‐scale flexible alternating current electroluminescent (ACEL) devices. Enhanced particle dispersibility and film uniformity yield impressive brightness up to 500 cd m−2, positioning these devices as effective luminous navigation signs for industrial ...

Addendum to "Travelling waves for a non-local Korteweg-de Vries-Burgers equation" [J. Differential Equations 257 (2014), no. 3, 720--758]

open access: yes, 2016
We add a theorem to [J. Differential Equations 257 (2014), no. 3, 720--758] by F. Achleitner, C.M. Cuesta and S. Hittmeir. In that paper we studied travelling wave solutions of a Korteweg-de Vries-Burgers type equation with a non-local diffusion term. In

Existence and uniqueness theorem for ODE: an overview

open access: yes, 2016
The study of existence and uniqueness of solutions became important due to the lack of general formula for solving nonlinear ordinary differential equations (ODEs). Compact form of existence and uniqueness theory appeared nearly 200 years after the development of the theory of differential equation.

Prediction of Structural Stability of Layered Oxide Cathode Materials: Combination of Machine Learning and Ab Initio Thermodynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, we developed a phase‐stability predictor by combining machine learning and ab initio thermodynamics approaches, and identified the key factors determining the favorable phase for a given composition. Specifically, a lower TM ionic potential, higher Na content, and higher mixing entropy favor the O3 phase.

Price Premiums for Single‐Name and Compound‐Name Geographical Indications in Swiss Cheese Trade

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Geographical indications (GIs) have become increasingly important in agri‐food markets, especially in Europe. For Swiss cheese imports and exports, we analyze whether GIs are associated with higher trade prices. We find that price premiums can be obtained for both exports and imports. However, this is only the case for cheeses with single name

Best proximity points of contractive mappings on a metric space with a graph and applications

open access: yesApplied General Topology, 2017
We establish an existence and uniqueness theorem on best proximity point for contractive mappings on a metric space endowed with a graph. As an application of this theorem, we obtain a result on the existence of unique best proximity point for uniformly ...

The Number of Equilibria of Smooth Infinite Economies [PDF]

open access: yes
We construct an index theorem for smooth infinite economies that shows that generically the number of equilibria is odd. As a corollary, this gives a new proof of existence and gives conditions that guarantee global uniqueness of equilibria.Uniqueness ...

Pricing Dynamics in the US Hemp Market: A Vertical Price Transmission Analysis of the Hemp Value Chain

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The US hemp market is a new and nascent industry that has been devoid of research for about half a century. This study examined the effects of exogenous shock on price at each phase of the value chain—Farm (hemp biomass), and its impact on prices at other phases of the value chain—Intermediary Processor (crude cannabidiol hemp) and Final ...

What to Make and How to Make It: Combining Machine Learning and Statistical Learning to Design New Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Combining machine learning and probabilistic statistical learning is a powerful way to discover and design new materials. A variety of machine learning approaches can be used to identify promising candidates for target applications, and causal inference can help identify potential ways to make them a reality.
