Existence of periodic solutions of a nerve equation

Biological Cybernetics, 1976
A recently developed continuous neuronal model is transformed into a system which is closely related to the theory of cellular control processes. In a broad region of parameter values periodic solutions of the equations describing the neuron do exist.

Existence of a Classical Solution for a Multidimensional Filtration Problem

Mathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, 1997
Summary: We prove existence, in a small time interval, of a classical solution having a regular free boundary, (i.e. the level set \(\{u=0\})\) of a multidimensional filtration problem \[ \sigma'(u) {\partial u\over\partial t}=\Delta u\quad\text{in }\quad \Omega_T=\Omega\times(0,T),\quad\Omega\subset\subset\mathbb{R}^N.

Implicit fractional differential equations: Existence of a solution revisited

Mathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, 2023
This paper focuses on revisiting and improving the results regarding the existence of a solution to the implicit fractional differential equations (FDEs) given in the following form: for all with the initial condition , where is the Caputo fractional derivative (CFD).

Existence and non‐existence of global solutions of a non‐local wave equation

Mathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, 2004
AbstractWe study the initial value problem where $ \|u(\cdot,t)\| = \int \nolimits ^ {\infty} _ {- \infty}\varphi(x) | u( x,t ) | {\rm{ d }} x$ with φ(x)⩾0 and $ \int \nolimits^{\infty} _ {-\infty} \varphi (x) \, {\rm{d}}x\,= 1$. We show that solutions exist globally for 0<p⩽1, while they blow up in finite time if p>1.

Existence of EMS Solutions and a Priori Estimates

SIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications, 1995
The author establishes the solvability of the nonlinear EMS (estimate, maximize, smooth) equations in the nonnegative quadrant by use of the Brouwer fixed point theorem and a priori estimates from the Perron- Frobenius theory. Existence of solutions and an a priori estimate are also proven for a generalization of the EMS equations.

A Remark on the Existence of a Periodic Solution

Differential Equations, 2003
The paper under review is a continuation of the earlier article by the author [ibid. 37, No. 4, 485--497 (2001; Zbl 1049.34012); translation from Differ. Uravn. 37, No. 4, 458--469 (2001)]. It gives sufficient conditions for the existence of periodic solution for a class of differential equations with discontinuous right-hand sides and differential ...

On the Existence of Solutions to a Differential Game

SIAM Journal on Control, 1967
In this paper we consider the problem of the existence of a “min-sup” strategy to a pursuit-evasion game. The dynamics of the players have been modeled by a general dynamical system rather than by a differential system. This has helped to achieve mathematical simplicity as well as clarification of the problems involved in a competitive situation.
