On the Existence of Solutions in Modular Fixturing
The International Journal of Robotics Research, 1996A fixture is a device that locates and holds parts during ma chining or assembly. A modular fixture employs reusable components on a regular lattice. Given a part, machinists combine intuition with trial and error to design an appropriate fixture. When a machinist is unable to find a design, it may be that (1) a feasible design was overlooked or (2) no

Existence of solutions and existence of optimal solutions
1983x 8 X = L2(J,V) , dx/dt 6 X* = L2(J,V*), t 6 J = [0,T], f 6 L2(J,V*), has at l e a s t one weak s o l u t i o n x 6 X, Ix[ ! R = al l f l x . . Thereby, we have obtained the well known existence of at least one solution z 6 X to the Cauchy problem with initial data x(0) = 0 for the linear evolution equation, by sole topological considerations.

Existence of solutions to obstacle problems
Nonlinear Analysis: Theory, Methods & Applications, 1991The purpose of this important paper is to study the question concerning the existence of solutions to obstacle problems. The pointwise regularity of solutions to certain obstacle problems (variational inequalities) is investigated. The authors have shown that, under certain conditions (\(\Omega\) is a bounded nonempty open set of \(\mathbb{R}^ n\) and \

Existence of a Nonstationary Poiseuille Solution
Siberian Mathematical Journal, 2005Let \(\omega\) be a bounded domain in \(\mathbb R^n\), \(Q_T = \omega\times(0,T)\). The following inverse problem is studied in \(Q_T\): \[ \begin{gathered} v_t(x,t) - \nu\Delta\,v(x,t) = q(t),\quad (x,t)\in Q_T, \\ v(x,t) = 0, \quad (x,t) \in \partial\omega\times(0,T),\quad v(x,0) = a(x),\quad x\in\omega, \\ \int_{\omega}v(x,t)\,dx = F(t)\;\;\text ...

A Remark on the Existence of a Periodic Solution
Differential Equations, 2003The paper under review is a continuation of the earlier article by the author [ibid. 37, No. 4, 485--497 (2001; Zbl 1049.34012); translation from Differ. Uravn. 37, No. 4, 458--469 (2001)]. It gives sufficient conditions for the existence of periodic solution for a class of differential equations with discontinuous right-hand sides and differential ...

Existence and uniqueness of solutions of discrete–delay differential equations is established by the method of steps, appealing to classical ODE results. More general delay equations require a more general framework for existence and uniqueness. This includes some peculiar notation endemic to the subject and the identification of the appropriate state ...

On the existence of bounded noncontinuable solutions
Mathematische Nachrichten, 2005AbstractThis paper presents necessary and sufficient conditions for an n ‐th order differential equation to have a non‐continuable solution with finite limits of its derivatives up to the order l at the right‐hand end point of the interval of its definition, l ≤ n – 2 (© 2010 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. On the Existence of Solutions to a Differential Game
SIAM Journal on Control, 1967In this paper we consider the problem of the existence of a “min-sup” strategy to a pursuit-evasion game. The dynamics of the players have been modeled by a general dynamical system rather than by a differential system. This has helped to achieve mathematical simplicity as well as clarification of the problems involved in a competitive situation.
