Exotic RG flows from holography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Holographic RG flows are studied in an Einstein‐dilaton theory with a general potential. The superpotential formalism is utilized in order to characterize and classify all solutions that are associated with asymptotically AdS space‐times.

Microscopic Insights into Magnetic Warping and Time‐Reversal Symmetry Breaking in Topological Surface States of Rare‐Earth‐Doped Bi2Te3

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic doping of the topological insulator Bi2Te3 with erbium adatoms induces out‐of‐plane magnetism and breaks time‐reversal symmetry, opening a Dirac gap and driving a Fermi surface transition from hexagonal to star‐of‐David geometry. Microscopy, spectroscopy, and magnetic dichroism reveal atomically controlled magnetic interactions that tailor the

Summer water in a restored native grassland flushes annual grass seed bank but fails to increase native perennial cover

open access: yesEcosphere, 2016
Natural and artificial flushing of the weed seed bank, followed by killing of seedlings, is a common practice in agricultural and prerestoration settings, but its application for post‐restoration management has not been tested in the context of restored ...

Kulit ikan kakap tersamak: Exotic dan prospektif

open access: yesMajalah Kulit, Karet, dan Plastik, 2005
Kakap fish skins are waste products of fillet industry. Up to now they have been wasted, of course accumulatively will cause environmental pollution. They are classified as the type of non conventional leather and exotic ones for the reasons of having ...

Non‐Destructive Laser Nanopatterning of Superconducting Heterostructures in Topological Sn Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate successful fabrication of high‐quality α‐Sn/β‐Sn planar nanostructures with arbitrary shapes by focused laser irradiation on topological Dirac semimetal α‐Sn thin films. The irradiated regions transform into atomically smooth, superconducting β‐Sn with a critical temperature of 3.7 K.

First detection of the adventive large rove beetle Ocypus nitens (Schrank) in Canada and an update of its Nearctic distribution using data generated by the public

open access: yesBiodiversity Data Journal, 2016
The adventive rove beetle Ocypus nitens (Staphylinidae: Staphylininae) is newly recorded in Canada (Ontario) and the state of Vermont, and additional range expansion is documented.

Successive Orthorhombic Distortions in Kagome Metals by Molecular Orbital Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Orthorhombic distortions in kagome metals break the symmetry required for exotic charge order. Synchrotron X‐ray diffraction of NdRu3Si2 reveals successive orthorhombic transitions driven by molecular orbital formation between kagome layers. The frustrated kagome lattice hosts degenerate patterns of kagome dimers whose short‐range correlations produce ...

Universal Conductance Fluctuations in Quantum Anomalous Hall Insulators

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Universal conductance fluctuations are observed in mesoscopic quantum anomalous Hall insulators. Two distinct fluctuation patterns are identified, arising from different interference processes of bulk and chiral edge states, respectively. These findings unveil rich quantum interference phenomena in quantum anomalous Hall insulators and provide insights

Nitrogen deposition cancels out exotic earthworm effects on plant‐feeding nematode communities

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, 2017
Summary The activity and spread of exotic earthworms often are spatially correlated with N deposition because both arise from human activities. Exotic earthworms, in turn, can also greatly affect soil abiotic and biotic properties, as well as related ...
