A cost‐effective DNA extraction protocol for long‐read sequencing in non‐model plants

open access: yesApplications in Plant Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise Third‐generation sequencing has revolutionized genomics, enabling in‐depth analysis of genome sequence, structure, and epigenetic features. Yet, extracting high‐quality DNA for long‐read sequencing remains a bottleneck—particularly in non‐model plants, such as mature trees growing in natural environments, which often contain abundant ...

Measurement of cross sections of e + e − → K S 0 K S 0 ψ 3686 $$ {e}^{+}{e}^{-}\to {K}_S^0{K}_S^0\psi (3686) $$ from s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 4.682 to 4.951 GeV

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
The process e + e − → K S 0 K S 0 ψ 3686 $$ {e}^{+}{e}^{-}\to {K}_S^0{K}_S^0\psi (3686) $$ is studied by analyzing e + e − collision data samples collected at eight center-of-mass energies ranging from 4.682 to 4.951 GeV with the BESIII detector ...

Phantastes Chapter 17/18: Exotics

open access: yes, 1876
Heinrich Heine (1797-1856) was a German poet whose poetry has a strong political focus. MacDonald includes several translations from Heine in Exotics (pp. 154-165), his book of translations from German and Italian poets (1876).

Emergent Spin Hall Quantization and High‐Order van Hove singularities in Square‐Octagonal MA2Z4

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
Square‐octagonal MA2Z4 (M = Mo/W, A = Si/Ge, Z = pnictogen) monolayers are predicted to realize quantum spin Hall insulators with nearly quantized spin Hall conductivity enabled by an emergent spin U(1) quasi‐symmetry. Materials with Z = As and Sb host quasi‐flat bands with high‐order van Hove singularities near the Fermi level, making them promising ...

Searches for SUSY & Exotics with ATLAS

open access: yes, 2017
Results of recent supersymmetry and exotics searches with the ATLAS experiment will be presented. Particular attention will be on supersymmetry searches with R-Parity Violation, which is appropriate for a conference on baryon number violation and lepton ...

Long‐Range Interactions in Topological Superconducting Systems: A Mini Review

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
Long‐range interacting quantum systems are surveyed in this review, with an emphasis on the long‐range topological superconductor and its variants. Long‐range interactions decaying in a power‐law manner can lead to exotic phenomena that finds no analogue in short‐range regimes.

Search for heavy neutral Higgs bosons decaying into a top quark pair in 140 fb −1 of proton-proton collision data at s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
A search for heavy pseudo-scalar (A) and scalar (H) Higgs bosons decaying into a top-quark pair ( t t ¯ $$ t\overline{t} $$ ) has been performed with 140 fb −1 of proton-proton collision data collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider

Recent Advances in Stimulated Brillouin Scattering in Integrated Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
This review systematically surveys recent advances in stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) within integrated photonics. It begins by elucidating the fundamental mechanisms of stimulated coupling between photons and acoustic phonons in nanoscale waveguides, enhanced by the photoelastic and moving boundary effects.

Guiding and Manipulating Light Fields in Microstructured Liquid Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
This review summarizes recent advances in guided‐wave optics enabled by microstructured liquid crystal (LC) devices, covering their fundamental material properties, key degree of freedom for dynamic light field manipulations. The advances of linear guided‐wave optics, nonlinear‐optics with spatial optical solitons, and microlasers in LC‐based devices ...
