Gauge coupling unification in E 6 F-theory GUTs with matter and bulk exotics from flux breaking

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2013
We consider gauge coupling unification in E 6 F-Theory Grand Unified Theories (GUTs) where E 6 is broken to the Standard Model (SM) gauge group using fluxes. In such models there are two types of exotics that can affect gauge coupling unification, namely

Exotics: Heavy pentaquarks and tetraquarks

open access: yesProgress in Particle and Nuclear Physics, 2017
For many decades after the invention of the quark model in 1964 there was no evidence that hadrons are formed from anything other than the simplest pairings of quarks and antiquarks, mesons being formed of a quark-antiquark pair and baryons from three ...

Toxic Exotics

Veterinary Clinics of North America: Exotic Animal Practice, 2008
The purpose of this article is to familiarize the reader with the basic venom components, the pathophysiologic responses of envenomated dogs and cats, and some brief treatment guidelines for envenomations by various exotic "pets." Representative toxic species of reptiles, amphibians, and arthropods are included.

An exotic sinusitis

Transactions of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 2005
We report a case of sinusitis caused by mixed free-living amoebae, Acanthamoeba and Naegleria, in an immunocompetent host; this has not been documented before. Free-living amoebae should be considered in the differential diagnosis of pathogens that cause sinusitis with or without central nervous system involvement, especially when bacteria or fungi are

Exotic shapes and exotic clusterization

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2011
The interrelation of the largely elongated nuclear shapes and clusterization is discussed by applying semimicroscopic methods. 36Ar is considered as a specific example, where recent experimental heavy‐ion scattering data seem to justify the theoretical predictions on the hyperdeformed states.

Increasingly exotic…

Veterinary Record, 2015
Continuing Veterinary Record's series of articles discussing the state of different sectors of the veterinary profession, Jonathan Cracknell considers the role of the exotics vet and how this sector has evolved over time.

Exotic Branes and Exotic Dualities in Supergravity

2020
We show how T-duality in string theory implies the presence of exotic branes, that is branes of the lower-dimensional theory that do not have a geometric higher-dimensional origin. We then move to discuss the potentials under which these branes are electrically charged.

Consciousness of the Exotic and Exotic Consciousness in Chateaubriand

Nineteenth-Century French Studies, 2010
Chateaubriand's many works set in exotic places speak in several voices: that of l'enchanteur , the spell-binding descriptive prose poet and rhetorician; of the scholar drawing on accounts by travelers and historians; and of the covert autobiographer.
