Comparative Study of the Lightening of Concrete Through the Use of Recycled Tire Rubber and Expanded Clay Aggregate

open access: yesSlovak Journal of Civil Engineering, 2023
The waste of tire rubber is characterized by the generation of huge amounts, which is annually discarded. This waste causes problems for human health and the environment. Thus, the valorization of recycled tire rubber in concrete production is considered

Moisture transfer in outer walls with layers of different density [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2021
The need to protect external walls from excess moisture to improve heat-shielding properties is an urgent task. If the outer wall is created from expanded clay concrete blocks, then the most interesting are the blocks created by layer-by-layer moulding ...

Application of porous building materials in low-rise housing construction [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
The enclosing structure made of porous building materials was considered as the object under study in the work. Let us consider four types of building wall materials (expanded clay concrete, porous ceramics, foam concrete and porous arbolite).

Studying the effects of coarse pore expanded clay concrete on a permanent formwork made of cement bonded particle boards

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
This paper suggests using a formwork system based on cement bonded particle boards (CBPB) filled with coarse pore expanded clay concrete in order to improve the technical efficiency of the building envelope.

Mechanical properties of lightweight expanded clay aggregate (LECA) concrete

open access: yesPrzegląd Naukowy Inżynieria i Kształtowanie Środowiska, 2022
The construction activities are based on structural concrete, which is one of the most commonly used materials. The fundamental aim of using lightweight concrete (LWC) was to reduce the concrete self-weight of the structure parts.

Mechanical characteristics of hardened basalt fiber expanded clay concrete cylinders

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials, 2022
Concrete is a universal construction material, and it is one of the most widely used materials in civil engineering. Concrete is strong in compression but weak in tension, therefore exhibiting brittle material characteristics.

Elephant‐Skin‐Inspired Porous Cementitious Tiles with Programmable Crack Networks for Passive Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Elephant‐skin‐inspired crack networks are programmed in porous diatomaceous earth (DE)‐cement composites using substrate‐guided, stress‐concentration induced fracture. The resulting crack lattices act as capillary conduits that redistribute water, while the porous matrix stores moisture.

The coelurosaur theropods of the Romualdo formation, early Cretaceous (Aptian) of Brazil: Santanaraptor placidus meets Mirischia asymmetrica

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The upper carbonate concretion levels of the Romualdo Formation (Aptian, Brazil) have yielded several theropod dinosaur remains, including spinosaurids and the coelurosaurs Santanaraptor placidus and Mirischia asymmetrica, the phylogenetic affinities of which are controversial.
