Surface Diffusion in SnTe‐PbTe Monolayer Lateral Heterostructures
The lateral heterostructures between 2D materials often suffer from the interdiffusion at the interfaces. Here, a surface diffusion mechanism is found to be dominating at the interfaces between semiconducting SnTe and PbTe monolayers. Atomically sharp interfaces can be achieved by suppressing this diffusion process. ABSTRACT The construction of complex

Microhardness of сompacted thermally expanded graphite
Using the method of continuous microindentation with different loading on the indenter, the microhardness of compacted thermo-expanded graphite (TEG) samples of different dispersion was studied. The analysis of the obtained results showed that, with an increase in the average cross-sectional area of TEG particles from 40 to 120 microns, the ...

It is elucidated that phase engineering of cobalt modulates the interfacial potential gradients of cobalt–carbon electrocatalysts, enhancing the intrinsic electrocatalytic performance. Modulating the dominant crystalline phase of cobalt from a hexagonal close‐packed to a face‐centered cubic enriches the electron density of carbon shells, thereby ...

Radiation heating in selected NERVA engine components [PDF]
The role of heating from nuclear radiation in design of the NERVA engine is treated. Some components are subjected to very high gamma heating rates in excess of 0.5 Btu/cubic inch/sec in steel in the primary nozzle or 0.25 Btu/cubic inch/sec in aluminum ...

Geometric Phases in Graphitic Cones
In this article we use a geometric approach to study geometric phases in graphitic cones. The spinor that describes the low energy states near the Fermi energy acquires a phase when transported around the apex of the cone, as found by a holonomy ...
