THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY OF MORTAR WITH EXPANDED PERLITE
SGEM International Multidisciplinary Scientific GeoConference EXPO Proceedings, 2023Perlite is a naturally occurring siliceous rock of volcanic origins. When heated to more than 1000 C it expands up to several times its original volume and thus creating the premises of light weightiness and thermal insulating properties. The indoor comfortable climate of modern lifestyle requires large amounts of energy to be created and sustained ...

Application of Qualitatively Improved Expanded Perlite (Review)
Glass and Ceramics, 2021A comparative analysis of the physicotechnical properties of existing and proposed perlite heat-insulation products, agricultural components, and acoustic fillings, demonstrating significant improvement in the quality of the latter, is presented. In this connection, a selective method is proposed for developing perlite deposits in thin extraction ...

Lightweight Mortars Based on Expanded Perlite
Key Engineering Materials, 2018Lightweight mortars composed from a lime-metakaolin binder or lime-cement binder and expanded perlite filler were prepared and tested. Mortar test samples were firstly cured in a humid atmosphere and subsequently in laboratory ambient conditions. Development of hardening processes was studied by X-ray diffraction and thermal analysis.

Effect of heat treatment on preparation of expanded perlite from Indonesian perlite rock
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2021Expanded perlite is a multifunctional material that has been widely used in Industry. Its light, porous, and high-temperature resistance has made it well known used for lightweight and fire-resistant materials. In this study, the expanded perlite was prepared from perlite rock originally from Padang Pariaman district, West Sumatra, Indonesia, by ...

Characterization of alkali bonded expanded perlite
Construction and Building Materials, 2018Abstract The thermal and mechanical properties of a lightweight alkali bonded material were investigated in correlation with the microstructure and porosity. The material was produced using fine granules of expanded perlite as raw powder and potassium di-silicate aqueous solution as alkaline activator, instead of the commonly used sodium silicate, to

Surface properties of poly(vinylimidazole)-adsorbed expanded perlite
Microporous and Mesoporous Materials, 2006Abstract Adsorption, electrokinetic properties and the interactions between polymer and clay minerals have recently received much attention, owing to the physicochemical properties of these materials. In this study, surface properties of poly(vinylimidazole)-adsorbed expanded perlite such as adsorption, adsorption kinetics and electrokinetic ...

A chemical evaluation of expanding perlitic rocks
Materials Chemistry, 1976Abstract A correlation between chemical composition and expansion properties of a number of perlitic rocks is proposed. Samples, which through their mineral norms were represented by points within the silica rich zone on a feldspars-quartz diagram, did not expand properly, whereas a sample of excellent expansibility belonged to the feldspars rich ...

Preparation and Utilization of Fine Expanded Perlite
Key Engineering Materials, 2007Hollow glass microspheres named expanded perlite have been prepared from perlite, but the size is usually above 20 µm. In the conventional preparation method, it is difficult to produce fine expanded perlite with particle size under 20 µm because the water contained in finely milled perlite particle, which is the origin of foaming, is evolved during ...
