Different types of organic and inorganic adsorbents have been used in the treatment of water contaminated by non-polar liquids. This work shows the high efficiency of hydrophobized vermiculite as a cleaning agent for industrial waste waters, as well as for special uses such as adsorption of crude oil from spills in open sea.
