The roles of computer self-efficacy, outcome expectancy, and attribution theory in impacting computer system use [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
TJte process by which individuals accept or reject information technologies was theoretically explained in a model employing attributional relationships and computer self-ejficacy and outcome expectancy.

Tumor and germline testing with next generation sequencing in epithelial ovarian cancer: a prospective paired comparison using an 18‐gene panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Genetic testing in epithelial ovarian cancer includes both germline and tumor‐testing. This approach often duplicates resources. The current prospective study assessed the feasibility of tumor‐first multigene testing by comparing tumor tissue with germline testing of peripheral blood using an 18‐gene NGS panel in 106 patients.

Business management teachers’ teaching expectancy beliefs about curriculum implementation: application of expectancy-value theory

open access: yesDiscover Education
Teachers’ expectancy beliefs are strong predictors of successful curriculum implementation. Drawing from the expectancy-value theory (EVT) of achievement motivation, this study assessed teaching expectancy beliefs in curriculum implementation among ...

Expectation violations as an effective alternative to complex mentalizing in novel communication

open access: yesiScience
Summary: Communicating without a shared language is often assumed to require cognitively demanding Theory of Mind reasoning. In this study, we tested whether a more parsimonious mechanism based on expectancy violations can achieve comparable performance.

User behaviors toward mobile video adoption in Taiwan: A qualitative study [PDF]

open access: yes
This study was designed to examine users' usage behaviors toward mobile video adoption in Taiwan. A modified UTAUT (Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology) model was designed to be the theory basis to develop questionnaires and open-ended ...

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

The Child is father of the man : implications for the demographic transition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We propose a new theory of the demographic transition based on the evidence that body development during childhood is an important predictor of adult life expectancy.

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Effect of chemotherapy on passenger mutations in metastatic colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Changes in passenger mutation load and predicted immunotherapy response after chemotherapy treatment. Tumor cells rich with passenger mutations have increased sensitivity to chemotherapy. Correlation of passenger mutations with neoantigen load suggests highly mutated clones promote a more effective response to immunotherapy, and therefore, first‐line ...
