Long-Run Trends of Human Aging and Longevity [PDF]

open access: yes
Over the last 200 years humans experienced a huge increase of life expectancy. These advances were largely driven by extrinsic improvements of their environment (for example, the available diet, disease prevalence, vaccination, and the state of hygiene ...

Combining antibody conjugates with cytotoxic and immune‐stimulating payloads maximizes anti‐cancer activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Methods to improve antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) treatment durability in cancer therapy are needed. We utilized ADCs and immune‐stimulating antibody conjugates (ISACs), which are made from two non‐competitive antibodies, to enhance the entry of toxic payloads into cancer cells and deliver immunostimulatory agents into immune cells.

Targeting p38α in cancer: challenges, opportunities, and emerging strategies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
p38α normally regulates cellular stress responses and homeostasis and suppresses malignant transformation. In cancer, however, p38α is co‐opted to drive context‐dependent proliferation and dissemination. p38α also supports key functions in cells of the tumor microenvironment, including fibroblasts, myeloid cells, and T lymphocytes.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

MOTIVATING ENGLISH TEACHERS BASED ON THE BASIC NEEDS THEORY AND AN EXPECTANCY THEORY

open access: yesEdulite: Journal of English Education, Literature, and Culture, 2017
There are two main motivation theories. a hierarchy of basic needs theory,  and an expectancy theory. In a Hyrarchy of basic needs theory, Maslow has stated that the basic needs as a main behaviour direction are structured into a hierarchy.

Lactoferrin treatment activates acetylcholinesterase, decreasing acetylcholine levels in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell culture supernatants, inhibiting cell survival

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Representation of the suggested mode of action of lactoferrin (Lf) in nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) A549 cells. Lf induces activation of caspase‐3 by activating p53 and AChE leading to decreased ACh concentrations. In turn, ACh signaling leads to activation of VEGF and AKT and blocking of caspase‐3.
