Perspective on Aqueous Batteries: Historical Milestones and Modern Revival
This review retraces the development of aqueous batteries from classical Zn‐MnO2 chemistry to modern Zn and Ni systems, correlating voltage, capacity, and electrolyte formulation with practical performance. By mapping historical success and failure onto current and future research directions, it identifies guiding principles that steer the design of ...

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.

Modelling LGD Using Survival Analysis [PDF]
Loss Given Default (LGD) is one of the key parameters needed in order to estimate expected and unexpected credit losses necessary for credit pricing as well as for calculation of the regulatory Basel II requirement (BCBS, 2006).

Economic Adjustment of Default Probabilities
This paper proposes a straightforward and intuitive computational mechanism for the economic adjustment of default probabilities, allowing the extension of the original (usually one-year) probability of default estimates for more than one period ahead ...

Asset pricing and investor risk in subordinated asset securitisation [PDF]
As a sign of ambivalence in the regulatory definition of capital adequacy for credit risk and the quest for more efficient refinancing sources collateral loan obligations (CLOs) have become a prominent securitisation mechanism. This paper presents a loss-

A Mussel‐Inspired Bioadhesive Patch to Selectively Kill Glioblastoma Cells
An innovative mussel‐inspired bioadhesive patch has been developed for post‐surgical glioblastoma treatment. The patch, which adheres strongly in biological environments, releases a localized treatment. This treatment, acting via reactive oxygen species, shows specific toxicity to glioblastoma cells.

Expected credit losses and managerial discretion. Current practices and future challenges
This paper examines the loan loss provisioning behaviour during the transition from IAS 39 to IFRS 9 for a sample of 403 banks in 27 countries in European Union. The objective of the study is to investigate whether during the first years of adoption of the new expected credit loss (ECL) impairment model banks are more en-couraged to smooth earnings and

Adult Sex Ratio as a Demographic Feedback Linking Mating Systems, Parental Care, and Evolution
Breeding systems are some of the most diverse social behavior, and our team is investigation the evolutionary causes of this diversity. This review summarises our research carried out at the University of Bath. We argue that demographic components of wild populations, especially the adult sex ratio, plays a key role driving breeding system variation ...

Credit losses in Australasian banking [PDF]
We analyse determinants of bank credit losses in Australasia. Despite sizeable credit losses over the past two decades, ours is the first systematic study to do so. Analysis is based on a comprehensive dataset retrieved from original financial reports of

ABSTRACT Perennial bioenergy crops, such as miscanthus and switchgrass, and crop residues have the potential to scale up sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production and mitigate carbon emissions. However, high establishment costs, delayed returns, and risk–return profiles that diverge from those of conventional crops can hinder incentives to adopt ...
