Carbon Taxation in a Second‐Best Setting: Impacts of Sectoral Differences on Optimal Rates
ABSTRACT This paper investigates the Ramsey‐optimal fiscal and environmental policy in an economy with two differentiated final‐goods sectors: brown (pollutive) and green (zero emissions). This analysis provides new insights into the interaction between distortionary taxes and carbon taxes in both the short run and long run.

ABSTRACT Since the U.S. dollar has been operating as a fiat currency, there has been a strong link between U.S. government deficits as a percentage of GDP and forward‐looking equity returns. As federal deficits get larger, the expected return to the market over the subsequent 10 years increases. This effect is material.
