Abstract Agoraphobic Sswere assigned to a high expectancy in vivo exposure condition, a low expectancy exposure condition, or a waiting list control condition. Subjects in both treatment conditions were given 10 in vivo exposure sessions over a 2–3 week period. In the high expectancy group, Ss were told that these sessions were part of treatment.
