A Soft X-Ray Experimental Facility

Advances in X-ray Analysis, 1984
AbstractA high vacuum soft x-ray source has been coupled to a large volume experimental chamber to provide a versatile facility for x-ray investigations in the energy range of 0.1 to 10 kev. The source chamber presently contains a modified Herike tube, but can employ any of a variety of source designs.

An Experimental Radar Facility

IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 1968
A coherent CW superheterodyne radar system operating at frequencies of 9, 17, 35, and 70 GHz is described. The radars are installed on a free-flight range to study backscattering from wakes of hypersonic-velocity projectiles. Each radar is equipped with a focused-lens antenna oriented at an angle of approximately 45° to the flight axis.

Chemical Modeling Experimental Facility

AIAA Journal, 1973
A high-temperature turbulent jet facility has been constructed for the purpose of partially simulating a turbulent, chemically reacting, hypersonic wake. A mass spectrometer which is movable throughout the jet allows detailed studies of the evolution of the chemistry, particularly the ionic species, produced via the interaction of high-temperature air ...

The Automation of the Transonic Experimental Facility (TEF) and the Aerodynamic Experimental Facility (AEF)

2015
Abstract : The Aerodynamic and Transonic Experimental Facilities at the US Army Research Laboratory (ARL) maintain free-flight spark ranges to evaluate the aerodynamic and flight dynamic performances of gun-launched projectiles. Currently, firing a projectile and capturing its shadowgraph image on film is a manual process which is tedious and limiting ...

Infrastructure Overview with Focus on Experimental Facility

2012
CESNET’s main role is to run, maintain and provide services for users of Czech NREN called CESNET2. It has more than 5 thousand kilometres of leased fibres of which 360 kilometres are represented by the Experimental Facility. Connection to other NRENs (mostly represented by GEANT members) has capacity of 10Gbit, with exception of cz.NIC, where CESNET ...

Facilities and Experimental Methods

2009
Abstract This chapter describes the main facilities used for the study of non-equilibrium flows, especially shock tubes and shock tunnels. The principles of shock tube operation are first reviewed and the disturbing processes, such as boundary layer effects, finite duration of diaphragm opening and transition are analysed.

Multiaxial experimental facilities

1997
In this chapter we will describe the development of a multiaxial testing facility. The equipment was designed to supply basic fatigue data and to permit a comparison with the proposed theories. However, before embarking on the detailed description of the test facility, it is appropriate to provide a background to various test methods and their ...

The Texas Experimental Tokamak (Text) Facility User's Facility

Nuclear Technology - Fusion, 1981
The Texas Experimental Tokamak is a medium-scale tokamak operated as a national user facility. Now in operation, it provides a plasma with a 1-m major radius, 28-cm minor radius, and 400-kA nominal plasma current at up to 3-T toroidal field for pulse lengths of 300 to 500 ms. The facility includes all standard tokamak diagnostics and an integrated data

THE HAYSTACK EXPERIMENTAL FACILITY

1964
Abstract : A new ground station for space communications, radar and radio astronomy research has recently been completed at Tyngsboro, Massachusetts. This installation, which is named Haystack, employs a 120-foot-diameter fully steerable antenna enclosed in a metal space-frame radome.
