Full‐field X‐ray fluorescence imaging using a Fresnel zone plate as a coded aperture: optimized reconstruction algorithm and first trial of hyperspectral XANES mapping

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, EarlyView.
The full‐field X‐ray fluorescence imaging method, where a Fresnel zone plate is employed as a coded aperture, was tested for the first time at a beamline, and its corresponding reconstruction code was optimized. It was also employed to perform, also for the first time using full‐field and fluorescence modes, hyperspectral XANES mapping. This study ...

D‐stroi – a uniaxial load frame for X‐ray diffraction and imaging

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, EarlyView.
A remote miniature load frame for X‐ray diffraction and imaging applications is presented. The load frame has been assessed for mechanical stability and suitability for various synchrotron X‐ray‐based techniques. We present a remotely controlled miniature load frame for in situ tensile deformation of millimetre‐sized metal samples in synchrotron X‐ray ...

Evolution of hierarchical phase‐contrast tomography on the European Synchrotron beamlines BM05 and BM18: a whole adult human brain imaging case study

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, EarlyView.
The evolution of hierarchical phase‐contrast tomography (HiP‐CT) from its origins at the BM05 beamline to its transition to BM18 (ESRF‐EBS) is shown. The novel hardware and scanning approach developments resulted in significantly improved data quality, resolution, sensitivity and speed.

Design Matters: Structural Variation in Experimental Huts Significantly Alters Entomological Endpoints in Insecticide Treated Net (ITN) Evaluation –A Comparative Experimental Hut Trial Using a Latin Square Design in Tanzania and Côte d’Ivoire

open access: yes
Abstract Background: Experimental huts are the gold standard for the semi-field evaluation of insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) but the design of the huts used varies markedly. Structural differences may influence mosquito behaviour – and, consequently, the measured efficacy of ITNs.

A robotic and high‐throughput X‐ray micro‐computed tomography workflow

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, EarlyView.
A high‐throughput and automated experimental workflow for synchrotron X‐ray micro‐computed tomography is demonstrated. The system integrates automated robotic sample exchange and data acquisition, enabling large‐scale and data‐driven research. With the recent upgrades of synchrotron facilities and an increasing demand for artificial intelligence (AI ...
