Research governance: a guide for health research charities
Health research charities are important leaders in research which addresses the unmet health needs of patients and the public. Much of the funding that goes into research by charities has been donated by their members or supporters who wish to make a ...

ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is an established home‐based kidney replacement therapy (KRT), but its uptake remains low in Japan. We evaluated whether individualized education in a dedicated outpatient clinic was associated with the initiation of PD.

Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Experimental study of the pharmacokinetics of monoclonal antibodies to α4β1-integrin in guinea pigs
This article presents the data on pharmacodynamics evaluation of monoclonal antibodies to α4β1-integrin in guinea pigs. The effect on total content of peripheral blood leukocytes after a single intraperitoneal injection of three doses of the drug has ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Estimation of Uniaxial Compressive Strength and Tensile Strength of Sandstone Based on Point Load
In rock mechanics and engineering practice, accurate and rapid evaluation of uniaxial compressive strength and tensile strength of rock is important for engineering design and construction safety. Traditional test methods are time-consuming and laborious,
