Income, education, and policy priorities

open access: yesPolitical Science Research and Methods
Are people's priorities associated with their income and education levels? There is a long history in political science of claims that priorities are driven by economic interests, but also that low-income and low-education people fail to prioritize their

Experimental aerothermodynamic research of hypersonic aircraft [PDF]

open access: yes
Wind tunnel tests were conducted to establish a benchmark experimental data base for a genetic hypersonic aircraft vehicle. Comprehensive measurements were made at Mach 7 to give flow visualization, surface pressure, surface convective heat transfer, and

Towards Graphene Nanoribbon-based Electronics

open access: yes, 2010
The successful fabrication of single layer graphene has greatly stimulated the progress of the research on graphene. In this article, focusing on the basic electronic and transport properties of graphene nanoribbons (GNRs), we review the recent progress ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Experimental Research on the R134a/CO2 Cascade Refrigeration System

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2013
A test rig of the R134a/CO2 cascade supermarket refrigeration system has been built up to get a comprehensive understanding of its performance. The results show that the maximum COP of the system occurred when the condensing temperature of the CO2 cycle ...

Competent legislators or mere pawns? Experimental evidence of attitudes toward gender quota politicians

open access: yesPolitical Science Research and Methods
Do citizens evaluate quota and non-quota politicians similarly? Do voters perceive quota-elected politicians as less competent and autonomous? Despite the proliferation of gender quotas, it remains unclear how citizens view female quota politicians ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Research on Shockwave/Boundary Layer Interactions Induced by Double Compression Corners Under Hypersonic Quiet and Noise Inflow Conditions

open access: yesAerospace
The problem of shock wave/boundary layer interaction induced by compression corners widely exists in the external and internal flows of various supersonic/hypersonic aircraft.
