An Experimental Study of the Effect of Gravity on Foam in Fractures
82nd EAGE Annual Conference & Exhibition, 2021Summary In this study, to investigate how gravity affects foam in fractures, we carry out seven sets of foam-scan experiments on three glass model fractures (model A, model B and model C) with a hydraulic aperture of 78, 98 and 128 microns respectively. We compare the behaviour of foam in the models placed horizontally and vertically.

Experimental Study on Gravity Currents with Internal Strati Cation in Semicircular Channels
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2022We present an experimental study of gravity currents (GCs) with internal stratification in a semicircular channel in the inertial–buoyancy and Boussinesq regime. Forty tests were performed with a denser volume of fluid (brine advancing in a fresh water ambient fluid) in lock-release. The lock contains an internal stratification, with a layer of density

The experimental study on infra-gravity wave
Ocean Engineering, 2007Abstract A series of experiments were conducted in a super-wave flume (300 m×5 m×5.2 m) to examine the low-frequency motion induced by waves with different incident steepness, sloping gradients and normalized frequency (sideband space). Two kinds of waves including initial uniform wave train and modulated wave train (one carrier with a pair of ...

Experimental study on the vertical motion of colliding gravity currents
Physics of Fluids, 2021Predicting the consequences of colliding gravity currents remains one of the most significant challenges in geophysical fluid dynamics. While the collision phenomenon has long been established through field observations, irregular natural occurrence and measurement limitations denied a comprehensive quantitative analysis of its dynamics.

An Experimental Study of Steam-Assisted Gravity Drainage
SPE Journal, 2020Summary In this paper we present a large-scale experimental study of the compositional effect on produced bitumen properties in steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD). The SAGD experiment used a sandpack in the cylindrical pressure vessel that was 1.22 m in length and 0.425 m in internal diameter. The pore volume of the sandpack was 58 L,

Experimental Study of Gravity Heat Pipe with ECT
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012Gravity heat pipe’s interior phase change and heat transfer mechanisms are hardly to research, yet significant for strengthening heat transfer and enhancing energy utilization. This paper reports experimental study on the reconstructed images and concentration measurement of liquid (ethanol) at condensation section of gravity heat pipe with electrical ...

An Experimental Study on Single Well Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage
Canadian International Petroleum Conference, 2000Abstract Steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) is one of the more popular enhanced oil recovery method of producing heavy oil and bitumen. In conventional SAGD approach, steam is injected into a horizontal well located above a horizontal producer. A steam chamber grows around the injection well and displaces heated

Experimental Study on Measuring Acceleration of Gravity with Simple Pendulum
2021The vibration of a single pendulum is considered as a rigid body rotation, and the effects of pendulum angle, pendulum mass distribution, air buoyancy and system damping on the vibration of a single pendulum are considered. At the same time, the experimental device of single pendulum is slightly improved by adding a dial that can read the angle at the ...

An Experimental Study of Capillary and Gravity Crossflow Fractured Porous Media
Proceedings of SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 1992Abstract Physical phenomena such as capillary, gravity, and viscous cross flow at the interface of two different porous media or in the fracture space between matrix blocks are believed to affect the flow of multiphases. We have not found any reported work on capillary and gravity cross flow in fractured porous media.
