Experimental Tests

1994
Abstract Experimental tests play a very important part in the research and design of linear electric drives. Since errors in calculation are always possible, the parameters must often be indentified on physical models in order to verify the accuracy of calculations.

Covert Modeling: An Experimental Test

Behavior Therapy, 1974
The effects of covert modeling, overt modeling, and attention placebo were compared in the reduction of fear of rats in a laboratory situation. There was no difference between the overt and covert groups on three behavioral or two subjective measures. The overt group was superior on one subjective measure. This supports other experimental and anecdotal

Thinnest optical waveguide: experimental test

Optics Letters, 2007
A thin dielectric waveguide with a subwavelength diameter can exhibit very small transmission loss only if its diameter is greater than a threshold value, while for smaller diameters, waveguide loss grows dramatically. The threshold diameter of transition between these waveguiding and nonwaveguiding regimes is primarily determined by the wavelength of ...

Experimental Test of Dissonance Reduction

Psychological Reports, 1967
Self-assigned low grades on an unannounced quiz on cognitive dissonance created (in accord with hypothesis) sufficient dissonance to cause 69% of a group of 29 students to express unfavorable attitudes toward the quiz (or professor responsible for the quiz). Only 23% of a control group of 13 students who assigned themselves high grades did likewise.

Zernike test 2: Experimental aspects

Applied Optics, 1977
A step-by-step procedure for the manufacture of Zernike disks and the design and fabrication of a laboratory Zernike test instrument are described. A laboratory wavefront error simulator is used to evaluate the loworder aberration measurement sensitivity of the Zernike test instrument.

Randomization tests: statistics for experimenters

Computer Methods and Programs in Biomedicine, 1991
Randomization (permutation) tests free the experimenter from the constraints of random sampling, a known error distribution and equal variances, to give a direct answer to the question "how likely is such a large (or small) result if the applied treatments had no effect?" The "result" may be the difference in mean responses, a correlation coefficient ...

Experimental Tests of Mach's Principle

Physical Review Letters, 1961
It is shown that thc precise null results of previous experiments (Hughes, V. W., et al., Phys. Rev. Letters 4, to be expected, resulting from an application of Miach's principle. lt is demonstrated with precision that the anisotropy of the inertial mass is universal, the same for all particles. Experimental tests of Bell's inequalities

1984
My aim is to speak of the experiments related to Bell’s inequalities. But since I am the first speaker who invokes Bell’s inequalities, I must first introduce Bell’s theorem (at least the way in which I understand it). Then, I will present a brief review of the experiments carried out between 1970 and 1976.
