Eliciting domain expert misuseability conceptions

Proceedings of the sixth international conference on Knowledge capture, 2011
In previous work we proposed the M-score measure for assigning a misuseability (i.e., sensitivity) score to data records. The M-score uses sensitivity score functions that should be acquired from domain experts. In this paper we present two different approaches for acquiring the required knowledge.

Concepts, Contexts and Expert Systems

1999
This paper describes problems identified in our attempts to develop an expert system for management of urinary tract infections. We found three aspects which we believe are important to consider when developing such systems. The objective of our future work will be to evaluate the impact of these problems on expert system development and usage.

Expert locator using concept linking

International Journal of Computational Systems Engineering, 2012
A common task in many applications is to find persons who are knowledgeable about a given topic. The 'expert locator' is a tool for finding people with relevant expertise and/or experience for a given subject. The potential value of the expert locator is directly related to the size of the searchable population. This paper addresses the issue of expert

Juror and Expert Conceptions of Battered Women

Violence and Victims, 1991
The admissibility of expert testimony at the trial of a battered woman defendant is very controversial. Some courts allow the testimony, others do not. This study focuses on two criteria judges use to determine admissibility and attempts to provide an empirical foundation that can assist their decisions.

Expert database concepts for engineering design

Artificial Intelligence for Engineering Design, Analysis and Manufacturing, 1987
The specific semantics of CAD objects are analysed concerning their nature their dynamicity and their consistency during the design process. The nature of CAD objects is concerned with their structure and relationships. The dynamicity is concerned with the evolving nature of the objects, i.e. their behavior.

Discounted expert weighting for concept drift

2013 IEEE Symposium on Computational Intelligence in Dynamic and Uncertain Environments (CIDUE), 2013
Multiple expert systems (MES) have been widely used in machine learning because of their inherent ability to decrease variance and improve generalization performance by receiving advice from more than one expert. However, a typical MES explicitly assumes that training and testing data are independent and identically distributed (iid), which ...

Concepts for Developing Expert Surgical Teams Using Simulation

Surgical Clinics of North America, 2015
This article investigates how simulation-based training can enhance the effectiveness of surgical teams. First, a description of team training within surgical settings is provided. Then, empirical work from a variety of fields is introduced to describe common characteristics of expert teams, with a specific focus on training surgical teams in simulated

How expert are the experts? An exploration of the concept of ‘expert’ within Delphi panel techniques

Nurse Researcher, 2006
The use of the term 'expert' occurs widely in healthcare research, in the context of national guidelines and consensus methods for the development of clinical protocols. Within consensus methods of research, especially Delphi panel techniques, the use of 'experts' is fundamental to reliability.
