Acquiring intersentential explanatory connections in expository texts

A taxonomy of explanatory links connecting sentences in expository texts is presented. It is also shown that there are two types of knowledge, which we have called analytical and empirical knowledge in analogy to the distinction between analytical and empirical sentences, that allow us to find and learn the explanatory connections.
