Investigation on hard‐rock breaking performance and auxiliary mechanism of picks assisted with both‐sided high‐pressure water jets

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This paper investigates the high‐pressure water jet‐pick combined rock‐breaking mode (HPC), which employs high‐pressure water jets to precut grooves on both sides of the picks. The rock‐breaking patterns and performance of the HPC method are obtained, and the auxiliary rock‐breaking mechanism of water jet grooving is revealed.

Influence of Gas Washing and Oil Mixing on the Phase Behavior and Physical Properties of Cambrian Light Oils in the Tazhong Uplift, Tarim Basin

open access: yesEnergies
Gas washing and oil mixing have been widely studied in the Tazhong area of the Tarim Basin, but their effects on Cambrian subsaltic dolomite reservoirs have not yet been adequately explored.

Experimental study on burning rate and flame geometry in construction tunnel fires under high geothermal conditions

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract As tunnel construction advances in lengths and depths, the construction of tunnels in high geothermal environments has become increasingly common, raising significant fire risks. In this study, a 1:20 scale model tunnel test platform was constructed to investigate the effects of a high geothermal environment on fire behavior in tunnels during ...

Geochemistry in geothermal exploration

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Research, 1985
Techniques based on the variations in composition of water, gas and stable isotopes in the liquid and gas phases of the geothermal fluids have been applied for some time now in the major geothermal fields and are now also used regularly in geothermal exploration.

Slip versus dilation tendency parameter space as a tool for prospecting structurally controlled geothermal systems in greenfield: insights from the greater Ruhr region

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study highlights that with the static and time‐dependent evolution of slip versus dilation tendency parameter space, structurally controlled deep geothermal systems can be selected within areas of higher permeability and lower seismic hazard. Abstract Faults play a vital role in the Earth's hydraulic system by facilitating fluid flow when dilating

Source and exploration potential of the ultra-deep Cambrian petroleum in Well XT-1, Tarim Basin, NW China

open access: yesPetroleum Exploration and Development
The ultra-deep (deeper than 8 000 m) petroleum in the platform-basin zones of the Tarim Basin has been found mainly in the Lower Paleozoic reservoirs located to the east of the strike-slip fault F5 in the north depression.

The application of regional-scale geochemical data in defining the extent of aeolian sediments : the Late Pleistocene loess and coversand deposits of East Anglia, UK [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The ‘European Coversand Sheet’ is a discontinuous ‘sheet’ of aeolian (windblown) loess and coversand that extends through eastern and southern England, across the English Channel into northern France, Belgium and the Netherlands (Kasse, 1997; Antoine ...
