Multiwavelength optical pyrometer for shock compression experiments [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
A system for measurement of the spectral radiance of materials shocked to high pressures (~100 GPa) by impact using a light gas gun is described. Thermal radiation from the sample is sampled at six wavelength bands in the visible spectrum, and each ...

Preliminary evaluation of the Well-being in Pregnancy (WiP) questionnaire

open access: yesJournal of Psychosomatic Obstetrics and Gynecology, 2017
Background: The concept of well-being is multi-faceted by encompassing both positive and negative emotions and satisfaction with life. Measuring both positive and negative thoughts and emotions is highly relevant in maternity care that aims to optimise a

An Exploratory Lattice Study of Spectator Effects in Inclusive Decays of the Lambda_b Baryon [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
A possible explanation of the apparent disrepency between the theoretical prediction and experimental measurement of the ratio of lifetimes $\tau(\Lambda_b)/\tau(B_d)$ is that ``spectator effects'', which appear at $O(1/m_b^3)$ in the heavy quark ...

Exploratory measurements in spiral turbulence [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Mechanics, 1966
The present experiments lay a foundation for a detailed study of interface propagation in a mixed laminar–turbulent flow between counter-rotating concentric cylinders. Such mixed flows, including one particularly well-organized pattern called spiral turbulence, are found to be a dominant feature of transition in Couette flow.

A measurement invariance analysis of selected Opioid Overdose Knowledge Scale (OOKS) items among bystanders and first responders

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2022
The Opioid Overdose Knowledge Scale (OOKS) is widely used as an adjunct to opioid education and naloxone distribution (OEND) for assessing pre- and post-training knowledge. However, the extent to which the OOKS performs comparably for bystander and first

Investigating the Dimensionality of Early Numeracy Using the Bifactor Exploratory Structural Equation Modeling Framework

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2021
The few studies that have analyzed the factorial structure of early number skills have mainly used confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and have yielded inconsistent results, since early numeracy is considered to be unidimensional, multidimensional or even

Evaluating individual students’ perceptions of instructional quality: An investigation of their factor structure, measurement invariance, and relations to educational outcomes

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2016
Students’ perceptions of instructional quality are among the most important criteria for evaluating teaching effectiveness. The present study evaluates different latent variable modeling approaches (confirmatory factor analysis, exploratory structural ...
