Unleashing the Power of Machine Learning in Nanomedicine Formulation Development

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A random forest machine learning model is able to make predictions on nanoparticle attributes of different nanomedicines (i.e. lipid nanoparticles, liposomes, or PLGA nanoparticles) based on microfluidic formulation parameters. Machine learning models are based on a database of nanoparticle formulations, and models are able to generate unique solutions

Design of Low-Cost Simulation Space Micro Debris Launch Device

open access: yesAerospace
The high cost and low emission frequency of microparticle launchers have resulted in a long lead time for the development of detectors for micro-debris in space.

Method of making an explosively welded scarf joint [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
A method is presented for obtaining a bond joint between thin metal members without the addition of a bonding agent. The method yields bond strengths comparable to the parent metal.

In Situ Study of Resistive Switching in a Nitride‐Based Memristive Device

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In situ TEM biasing experiment demonstrates the volatile I‐V characteristic of MIM lamella device. In situ STEM‐EELS Ti L2/L3 ratio maps provide direct evidence of the oxygen vacancies migrations under positive/negative electrical bias, which is critical for revealing the RS mechanism for the MIM lamella device.

Reducing Open‐Circuit Voltage Losses in Wide‐Bandgap FAPbBr3 Perovskite Solar Cells for Continuous Unassisted Light‐Driven Water Splitting

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The combination of formamidinium thiocyanate and 1,3‐propane diammonium iodide for bulk and top‐surface passivation, and a ternary fullerene blend to improve energy band alignment, suppresses energy losses in wide‐bandgap FAPbBr3 perovskite solar cells.

Explosive Axion Production from Saxion

open access: yes, 2017
The dynamics of saxion in a supersymmetric axion model and its effect on the axion production is studied in detail. We find that the axion production is very efficient when the saxion oscillation amplitude is much larger than the Peccei-Quinn scale, due ...

The concurrence of atmospheric rivers and explosive cyclogenesis in the North Atlantic and North Pacific basins

open access: yes, 2017
. The explosive cyclogenesis of extratropical cyclones and the occurrence of atmospheric rivers are characteristic features of a baroclinic atmosphere, and are both closely related to extreme hydrometeorological events in the mid-latitudes, particularly ...

Chemoselective Sequential Polymerization: An Approach Toward Mixed Plastic Waste Recycling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by biological protein metabolism, this study demonstrates the closed‐loop recycling of mixed synthetic polymers via ring‐closing depolymerization followed by a chemoselective sequential polymerizations process. The approach recovers pure polymers from mixed feedstocks, even in multilayer formats, highlighting a promising strategy to overcome a

Anaesthetic explosions.

open access: yesSouth African medical journal = Suid-Afrikaanse tydskrif vir geneeskunde, 2002
The flammability and explosibility of many of the more useful anaesthetic agents are properties regarded with apprehension by a large number of anaesthetists and surgeons. Indeed, because of these properties, such an excellent anaesthetic agent as di-ethyl ether may become surrounded by as many taboos as the wooden image worshipped by a savage African ...

Tuning the Electronic Structure and Spin State of Fe─N─C Catalysts Using an Axial Oxygen Ligand and Fe Clusters for High‐Efficiency Rechargeable Zinc–Air Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A FeN4─O/Clu@NC‐0.1Ac catalyst containing atomically‐dispersed FeN4─O sites (medium‐spin Fe2+) and Fe clusters delivered a half‐wave potential of 0.89 V for ORR and an overpotential of 330 mV at 10 mA cm−2 for OER in 0.1 m KOH. When the catalyst was used in a rechargeable Zn–air battery, a power density of 284.5 mW cm−2 was achieved with excellent ...
