Cosmology with exponential potentials

open access: yes, 2004
We examine in the context of general relativity the dynamics of a spatially flat Robertson-Walker universe filled with a classical minimally coupled scalar field \phi of exponential potential ~ e^{-\mu\phi} plus pressureless baryonic matter.

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Exponential functionals of Levy processes

open access: yes, 2005
This text surveys properties and applications of the exponential functional $\int_0^t\exp(-\xi_s)ds$ of real-valued L\'evy processes $\xi=(\xi_t,t\geq0)$.Comment: Published at http://dx.doi.org/10.1214/154957805100000122 in the Probability Surveys ...

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

Approximation Operators, Exponential, q-Exponential, and Free Exponential Families

open access: yes, 2005
Using the technique developed in approximation theory, we construct examples of exponential families of infinitely divisible laws which can be viewed as deformations of the normal, gamma, and Poisson exponential families. Replacing the differential equation of approximation theory by a q-differential equation, we define the q-exponential families, and ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Simple quasi-exponential slope generator [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
Circuitry for digitally generating an exponentially decaying wave function permits discrete values to be sampled from the exponential waveform for comparison with a binary number of specified accuracy.

Hip Morphology–Based Osteoarthritis Risk Prediction Models: Development and External Validation Using Individual Participant Data From the World COACH Consortium

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This study aims to develop hip morphology‐based radiographic hip osteoarthritis (RHOA) risk prediction models and investigates the added predictive value of hip morphology measurements and the generalizability to different populations. Methods We combined data from nine prospective cohort studies participating in the Worldwide Collaboration ...

Conceptual images and learning obstacles in exponentiation and logarithms: A hermeneutic phenomenological analysis

open access: yesJurnal Elemen
The concept of exponentials and logarithms is one of the essential concepts in mathematics as part of transcendent functions. However, students' understanding of these two concepts has yet to be fully mastered, so there are still errors in solving ...

Real closed exponential fields

open access: yes, 2011
In an extended abstract Ressayre considered real closed exponential fields and integer parts that respect the exponential function. He outlined a proof that every real closed exponential field has an exponential integer part.
