Linear Growth Curve Analysis Based on Exponential Dispersion Models

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Statistical Society Series B: Statistical Methodology, 1996
SUMMARY The paper introduces a class of linear growth curve models based on combinations of exponential dispersion models. The models have three components, namely a latent Markov growth process with stationary and independent increments, a noise component and a component describing variation between subjects.

Modeling the Household Income Expended on Food in Egypt: A Beta Regression Approach [PDF]

open access: yesThe Egyptian Statistical Journal, 2014
The Beta distribution is a highly flexible parametric distribution, able to accommodate both unimodal and bimodal densities with varying severity of skewness.

Tweedie models for Malaysia rainfall simulations with seasonal variabilities

open access: yesJournal of Water and Climate Change, 2023
This study aims to evaluate the suitability of the Tweedie generalised linear model for characterising monthly rainfall patterns across 18 meteorological stations in Peninsular Malaysia.

New Statistical Residuals for Regression Models in the Exponential Family: Characterization, Simulation, Computation, and Applications

open access: yesMathematics
Residuals are essential in regression analysis for evaluating model adequacy, validating assumptions, and detecting outliers or influential data. While traditional residuals perform well in linear regression, they face limitations in exponential family ...

The Shewanella oneidensis Fic enzyme SoFic targets the switch‐I region of EF‐Tu for AMPylation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fic enzymes mediate diverse post‐translational modifications across all domains of life, including AMPylation. Prokaryotic EF‐Tu can be AMPylated and deAMPylated by the conserved Fic enzyme SoFic. Structural and biochemical approaches were used to characterize the effect of AMPylation on EF‐Tu, SoFic's enzymatic activities, and the enzyme‐target ...

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

A Fractional - spread defuzzification framework for n-tuple fuzzy numbers with application to nonlinear optimization [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
When decision variables exhibit asymmetric and multiscale uncertainty, ranking fuzzy numbers continues to be a major difficulty in nonlinear optimization.

EXPONENTIAL DISPERSION MODELS AND THE GAUSS‐NEWTON ALGORITHM [PDF]

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Statistics, 1991
SummaryIt is known that the Fisher scoring iteration for generalized linear models has the same form as the Gauss‐Newton algorithm for normal regression. This note shows that exponential dispersion models are the most general families to preserve this form for the scoring iteration. Therefore exponential dispersion models are the most general extension

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Soliton solutions of fractional extended nonlinear Schrödinger equation arising in plasma physics and nonlinear optical fiber

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
In this research, we study traveling wave solutions to the fractional extended nonlinear SchrÖdinger equation (NLSE), and the effects of the third-order dispersion parameter. This equation is used to simulate the propagation of femtosecond, plasma physic
