Asymmetric Power Distribution: Theory and Applications to Risk Measurement [PDF]

open access: yes
Theoretical literature in finance has shown that quantifying the risk of financial time series amounts to measuring their expected shortfall, also known as tail Value at Risk.

Inverse Identification of Energy‐Dependent Laser Absorptivity in NiTi Laser Powder‐Bed Fusion via Calibrated Melt Pool Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined experimental–computational framework identifies energy‐dependent laser absorptivity for NiTi in laser powder‐bed fusion, applicable to conduction and transition modes. Single‐track experiments and thermofluid smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations are coupled through inverse analysis of melt pool geometry.

Comparison of Bayes' Estimators for the Exponential Reliability Function Under Different Prior Functions

open access: yesIbn Al-Haitham Journal for Pure and Applied Sciences, 2017
In this study, we derived the estimation for Reliability of the Exponential distribution based on the Bayesian approach. In the Bayesian approach, the parameter of the Exponential distribution is assumed to be random variable .We  derived  posterior ...

The distribution of ocular Chlamydia prevalence across Tanzanian communities where trachoma is declining.

open access: yesPLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, 2015
BackgroundMathematical models predict an exponential distribution of infection prevalence across communities where a disease is disappearing. Trachoma control programs offer an opportunity to test this hypothesis, as the World Health Organization has ...

Grain Refinement During Severe Plastic Deformation and Similitude of Subgrain Formation: A Molecular Dynamics Study

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Molecular dynamics is used to investigate structure refinement during severe plastic deformation. The results show similitude with experimental data. Molecular dynamics simulations of severe plastic deformation of monocrystalline and polycrystalline samples by multiaxial compression of aluminum are carried out.

Order Statistics and Benford's Law

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2008
Fix a base B>1 and let ζ have the standard exponential distribution; the distribution of digits of ζ base B is known to be very close to Benford's law.

Bayesian sampling plans for exponential distribution based on uniform random censored data

open access: yes, 2009
The problem of a single sampling plan with polynomial loss for the exponential distribution based on uniformly distributed random censored data has been considered. A Bayes sampling plan is derived under various schemes of censoring time. It is specially

Exploring Dipolar Dynamics and Ionic Transport in Metal‐Organic Frameworks: Experimental and Theoretical Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 43, 29 May 2026.
In this study, the interplay of dipolar dynamics and ionic charge transport in MOF compounds is investigated. Synthesizing the novel structure CFA‐25 with integrated freely rotating dipolar groups, local and macroscopic effects, including interactions with Cs cations are explored.

A PROOF OF THE FACTORIAL APPROXIMATION VIA THE EXPONENTIAL DISTRIBUTION

open access: yesTạp chí Khoa học
The factorial of a natural number n, denoted n!, is defined as the product of natural numbers from 1 to n. This is a familiar concept to students. Although this concept is defined simply, the function n!

Some Composite ExponentialPareto Models for Actuarial Prediction [PDF]

open access: yes
Prediction is a very important and not so easy task for an actuary. An insurance company needs predictions of the future claims in order to evaluate premiums, to assess its financial situation, probabilities of ruin, etc.
