A role for Gle1, a regulator of DEAD-box RNA helicases, at centrosomes and basal bodies. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Control of organellar assembly and function is critical to eukaryotic homeostasis and survival. Gle1 is a highly conserved regulator of RNA-dependent DEAD-box ATPase proteins, with critical roles in both mRNA export and translation.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Do Export Controls Pay Off in the Long Term? A Study of Trade Bans in Great Power Crises

open access: yesChina Quarterly of International Strategic Studies
The confrontation between China and the United States in the international economic and trade field has been gradually evolving into a much wider one between China and the Western world at large.

Markups and Firm-Level Export Status [PDF]

open access: yes
We derive an estimating equation to estimate markups using the insight of Hall (1986) and the control function approach of Olley and Pakes (1996). We rely on our method to explore the relationship between markups and export behavior using plant-level ...

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

La réglementation française en matiére de contrôle des exportations d’armes conventionnelles

open access: yesPaix et Sécurité Internationales, 2014
The French regulation on conventional arms export control provides a strict framework of French military equipment production. The French regulation in this area is a result of a control policy based, in large measure, on moral, political, strategic and ...

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

EU and US Export Control Regimes for Dual Use Goods: an Overview of Existing Frameworks [PDF]

open access: yesRomanian Journal of European Affairs, 2017
The systems of EU and US export controls of dual-use items have periods of shared history, where the regulatory efforts were directed at a common adversary and with regard to a common array of critical goods and technologies.

Bacterial rotary export ATPases are allosterically regulated by the nucleotide second messenger cyclic-di-GMP [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The widespread second messenger molecule cyclic di-GMP (cdG) regulates the transition from motile and virulent lifestyles to sessile, biofilm-forming ones in a wide range of bacteria. Many pathogenic and commensal bacterial-host interactions are known to
