The Effect of Limit Values of Siliceous Fly Ash Content on the Durability of Concrete Structures in Rela tion to Exposure Classes [PDF]

open access: goldArchives of Civil Engineering, 2021
The paper concerns the use of limit value of siliceous fly ash content in concrete structures, with the application of various types of cements - based on the current standards and taking into consideration the requirements concerning current exposure ...

Diesel Engine Exhaust: Basis for Occupational Exposure Limit Value [PDF]

open access: bronzeToxicological Sciences, 2017
Diesel engines are widely used in transport and power supply, making occupational exposure to diesel exhaust common. Both human and animal studies associate exposure to diesel exhaust with inflammatory lung effects, cardiovascular effects, and an increased risk of lung cancer. The International Agency for Research on Cancer has evaluated diesel exhaust

Exploring the statistical uncertainty in acceptable exposure limit values for hexavalent chromium exposure [PDF]

open access: hybridJournal of Exposure Science & Environmental Epidemiology, 2017
Exposure limit values give the exposure level at which an accepted (or acceptable) number of additional work related diseases are expected. The values are derived from dose-response curves and carry a large amount of uncertainty. In this paper we aim to quantify some of this uncertainty with statistical means.

Exposure Limits for Nanoparticles: Report of an International Workshop on Nano Reference Values [PDF]

open access: bronzeThe Annals of Occupational Hygiene, 2012
This article summarizes the outcome of the discussions at the international workshop on nano reference values (NRVs), which was organized by the Dutch trade unions and employers' organizations and hosted by the Social Economic Council in The Hague in September 2011.

LEAD EXPOSURE AND THE DERIVATION OF MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE CONCENTRATIONS AND THRESHOLD LIMIT VALUES [PDF]

open access: bronzeOccupational and Environmental Medicine, 1965
The terms maximum allowable concentration (M.A.C.) and threshold limit value (T.L.V.) differ in their respective meanings. The M.A.C. is a ceiling concentration whereas the T.L.V. is a time-weighted average of the concentration of the hazardous agent in the atmosphere. The value attributed to M.A.C. or T.L.V.

Assessment of Environmental Radioactivity Level and its Health Implication in Imiringi Community Bayelsa State, Nigeria [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Sciences and Environmental Management, 2020
A total forty two (42) sampled points were investigated for radioactivity level and health implication using standard method. The exposure dose rate  ranged from 14 to 32μRh-1 with an average value of μ23Rh-1.

Proposed biological threshold limit values for industrial exposure to trichloroethylene vapor.

open access: hybridScandinavian Journal of Work, Environment & Health, 1977
A model was used for the simulation of the pharmacokinetics of inhaled trichloroethylene (TRI) vapor. Computed data of TRI in alveolar air and of trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and trichloroethanol (TCE) in blood and urine agreed satisfactorily with experimental results obtained by various authors.

A Comparison of REACH-Derived No-Effect Levels for Workers With EU Indicative Occupational Exposure Limit Values and National Limit Values in Finland [PDF]

open access: bronzeThe Annals of Occupational Hygiene, 2015
The purpose of occupational exposure limits values (OELs) is to regulate exposure to chemicals and minimize the risk of health effects at work. National authorities are responsible for the setting and updating of national OELs. In addition, the EU sets indicative occupational exposure limit values (IOELVs), which have to be considered by the Member ...

Using the current Brazilian value for the biological exposure limit applied to blood lead level as a lead poisoning diagnostic criterion [PDF]

open access: diamondCadernos de Saúde Pública, 1996
In general, biological exposure limits are only used for the promotion and preservation of workers' health and are not applied for diagnostic purposes. However, the issue is controversial for certain types of occupational poisoning.

Formate in serum and urine after controlled methanol exposure at the threshold limit value. [PDF]

open access: diamondEnvironmental Health Perspectives, 1994
Methanol will be present as a new air pollutant when methanol-powered vehicles are introduced in the United States. Little is known about the effect of low-dose methanol exposure. It is controversial whether or not formate, the main metabolite responsible for methanol's acute toxicity, is a sensitive biological marker of toxicity or exposure.
