Observation of Robust Zero-Energy Extended States
Topological edge states arise at the interface of two topologically-distinct structures and have two distinct features: they are localized and robust against symmetry protecting disorder. On the other hand, conventional transport in one dimension is associated with extended states, which typically do not have topological robustness.

A continuous time model for observer-based frequency tracking
Frequency tracking has been the focus of several research works for decades. One common method is to utilize a state observer to dynamically estimate the frequency of the measured signal.

Observation of a Flat and Extended Surface State in a Topological Semimetal
A flat band structure in momentum space is considered key for the realization of novel phenomena. A topological flat band, also known as a drumhead state, is an ideal platform to drive new exotic topological quantum phases. Using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy experiments, we reveal the emergence of a highly localized surface state in a ...

Finite-time ship formation control based on extended state observer
ObjectiveIn order to solve the problems of most current ship formation control algorithms such as their long control cycle and poor timeliness, this paper proposes a finite-time control strategy based on an extended state observer (ESO).MethodsFirst, a ...

Parameterization of a Novel Nonlinear Estimator for Uncertain SISO Systems with Noise Scenario
Dynamic observers are commonly used in feedback loops to estimate the system’s states from available control inputs and measured outputs. The presence of measurement noise degrades the performance of the observer and consequently degrades the performance

Experimental External Force Estimation Using a Non-Linear Observer for 6 axes Flexible-Joint Industrial Manipulators [PDF]
This paper proposes a non-linear observer to estimate not only the state (position and velocity) of links but also the external forces exerted by the robot during Friction Stir Welding (FSW) processes.

This paper presents a novel extended state observer (ESO) approach for a class of plants with nonlinear dynamics. The proposed observer estimates both the state variables and the total disturbance, which includes both exogenous and endogenous disturbance.

Extended representations of observables and states for a noncontextual reinterpretation of QM [PDF]
A crucial and problematical feature of quantum mechanics (QM) is nonobjectivity of properties. The ESR model restores objectivity reinterpreting quantum probabilities as conditional on detection and embodying the mathematical formalism of QM into a broader noncontextual (hence local) framework.

Approximation of the disturbance dynamics by Extended State Observer Using an Artificial Delay
International audienceA disturbance estimator based on the design of an extended state observer (ESO) often considers that the time-derivative of the perturbation (or higher order time-derivatives) is very small and can be taken equal to zero in the ...
