The Quality of Frozen-thawed Canine Semen With Respect to Semen Extender Composition and Sequence of Ejaculate Collection in Dogs

open access: yesActa Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2016
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of clarified egg yolk addition to semen extender, and the semen collection sequence on the quality of frozen-thawed semen in dogs. Semen was collected from 6 dogs in a time interval of 24 hours.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Viabilidade in vitro de células espermáticas ovinas submetidas a diferentes diluentes e a refrigeração In vitro viability of ovine sperm cells submitted to different diluents and refrigeration

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Cryopreservative and antimicrobial properties of kaempferol on the post-thaw quality of turkey spermatozoa

open access: yesCzech Journal of Animal Science
At present, the low post-thaw quality of poultry semen presents a challenge to develop new strategies for its cryopreservation. The purpose of this research was to assess the impact of kaempferol (KAE) on post-thaw turkey sperm characteristics (motility,

CARACTERÍSTICAS DO SÊMEN CAPRINO DESCONGELADO APÓS A ADIÇÃO DE RINGER LACTATO, CITRATO DE SÓDIO E SOLUÇÃO TRIS

open access: yesCiência Animal Brasileira, 2015
Cryopreservation of semen is of great importance for various reproductive biotechnologies such as artificial insemination (IA), In Vitro Embryo Production (PIV) and Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI).

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Extended admissibility

open access: yesTheoretical Computer Science, 2002
We give a new definition of admissible representations which allows to handle also non countably-based topological spaces in the framework of Type-2 Theory of Effectivity. We prove that admissible representations \(\delta_{X},\delta_{Y}\) of topological spaces \(X,Y\) have the desirable property that every partial function \(f\subseteq X\rightarrow Y\)
