Galactic Cosmic Ray Ionization on Uranus; Geomagnetic Latitude Dependencies

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 131, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract Galactic Cosmic Rays (GCRs) are a major source of atmospheric ionization, influencing ion abundance, aerosol formation, and electrical processes. GCR‐induced effects are expected to be more pronounced on Uranus than planets closer to the Sun for two reasons; reduced solar irradiance, and weaker solar modulation of incident GCR.

Come from away: Reconstructing a long‐range migratory flight of spruce budworm moths to Newfoundland, Canada Venues de loin : reconstitution d'un vol migratoire de longue distance de tordeuses des bourgeons de l'épinette vers Terre‐Neuve, au Canada

open access: yesEcological Entomology, Volume 51, Issue 1, Page 41-58, February 2026.
Lagrangian atmospheric models were used in conjunction with ecophysiological factors to reconstruct the path and meteorological conditions of a long‐range migration flight of spruce budworm moths to Newfoundland, Canada. Moths travelled under high winds and warm temperatures that favoured their migratory flight until encountering cooler temperatures ...

Agricultural System Resilience of Industrial Hemp: An Exploratory Value Web Analysis in the Swabian Alb

open access: yesGCB Bioenergy, Volume 18, Issue 2, February 2026.
This study assessed the industrial hemp value web resilience in the Swabian Alb, Southern Germany, where regional implementation remains limited despite hemp's bioeconomy potential. Using an indicator framework and stakeholder interviews, the research found the small, fluctuating cultivation area (e.g., 25 ha in 2024) focuses on hemp seed valorisation;

Monte Carlo simulation of EAS generated by 10(14) - 10(16) eV protons [PDF]

open access: yes
Detailed Monte Carlo simulations of extensive air showers to be detected by the Homestake Surface Underground Telescope and other similar detectors located at sea level and mountain altitudes have been performed for 10 to the 14th power to 10 to the 16th

Prophetic Promise: The Lineal Return of ‘lopp’d branches’ in Shakespeare’s Cymbeline

open access: yesRenaissance Studies, Volume 40, Issue 1, Page 55-75, February 2026.
Abstract This paper identifies the early‐modern conception of prophecy as a word‐magic performed across generations, a verbal promise that anticipates its own realisation in posterity. Just as Francis Bacon upheld the generative force of prophetic utterances by noting their ‘springing and germinant accomplishment throughout many ages’, Shakespeare’s ...

Feeling Lonely While Ageing in Place in the Netherlands: Questioning the Importance of Shopping Spaces for Older People

open access: yesTijdschrift voor Economische en Sociale Geografie, Volume 117, Issue 1, Page 83-97, February 2026.
Abstract More than half of the Dutch older population feels lonely, meaning their social relationships do not meet their needs. As people are predominantly ageing in place (AIP) instead of in care homes, their everyday experiences become more localised and neighbourhood spaces gain traction as important spaces of encounter.
