Cosmic-Ray Extremely Distributed Observatory: Status and Perspectives

open access: yesUniverse, 2018
The Cosmic-Ray Extremely Distributed Observatory (CREDO) is a project dedicated to global studies of extremely extended cosmic-ray phenomena, the cosmic-ray ensembles (CRE), beyond the capabilities of existing detectors and observatories.

The Building That Teaches: Exploring Augmented Reality Affordances in Academic Incubators

open access: yesJournal of Interior Design, EarlyView., 2022
ABSTRACT Efforts to enhance the experience of interior environments have led to experimentation with augmented reality (AR) technology to encourage users to participate in the built space using their mobile devices. To investigate the role of AR technologies in interior design experiences, we highlight the interdisciplinary design of a mobile AR ...

Large scale cosmic-ray anisotropy with KASCADE

open access: yes, 2003
The results of an analysis of the large scale anisotropy of cosmic rays in the PeV range are presented. The Rayleigh formalism is applied to the right ascension distribution of extensive air showers measured by the KASCADE experiment. The data set ...

Coherent radiation from extensive air showers [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2012
The generic properties of the emission of coherent radiation from a moving charge distribution are discussed. The general structure of the charge and current distributions in an extensive air shower are derived. These are subsequently used to develop a very intuitive picture for the properties of the emitted radio pulse.

Measurement of horizontal air showers with the Auger Engineering Radio Array

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2017
The Auger Engineering Radio Array (AERA), at the Pierre Auger Observatory in Argentina, measures the radio emission of extensive air showers in the 30-80 MHz frequency range.

On the angular distribution of extensive air showers

open access: yes, 2009
Angular distributions of extensive air showers with different number of charged particles in the range 2.5x10^5--4x10^7 are derived using the experimental data obtained with the EAS MSU array.

A compact and light-weight refractive telescope for the observation of extensive air showers [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Instrumentation, 2018
A general purpose instrument for imaging of Cherenkov light or fluorescence light emitted by extensive air showers is presented. Its refractive optics allows for a compact and light-weight design with a wide field-of-view of 12°.

The full coverage approach to the detection of Extensive Air Showers

open access: yesSciPost Physics Proceedings, 2023
A shower array exploiting the full coverage approach with a high segmentation of the readout allow to image the front of atmospheric showers with unprecedented resolution and detail. The grid distance determines the energy threshold (small energy showers

Radioelectric Field Features of Extensive Air Showers Observed with CODALEMA [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Based on a new approach to the detection of radio transients associated with extensive air showers induced by ultra high energy cosmic rays, the experimental apparatus CODALEMA is in operation, measuring about 1 event per day corresponding to an energy ...

Synergistic Compatibilization of CsPbBr3 Perovskites and HfO2 Nanocrystals for Hybrid Sensitized Nanoscintillators

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lead halide perovskite nanocrystals are promising scintillators but suffer from reabsorption losses and limited compatibility with high‐Z additives. Hybridization of CsPbBr3 nanocrystals with PbBr2‐passivated HfO2 nanoparticle sensitizers, achieved during or after synthesis, produces stable composites with maintained optical quality, improved ...
