Observation of TeV Gamma Rays from the Crab Nebula with Milagro Using a New Background Rejection Technique [PDF]
The recent advances in TeV gamma-ray astronomy are largely the result of the ability to differentiate between extensive air showers generated by gamma rays and hadronic cosmic rays.

Electron–Matter Interactions During Electron Beam Nanopatterning
This article reviews the electron–matter interactions important to nanopatterning with electron beam lithography (EBL). Electron–matter interactions, including secondary electron generation routes, polymer radiolysis, and electron beam induced charging, are discussed.

Monte Carlo simulation of the cosmic muon charge ratio
The muonic component of air showers is sensitive to the mass and energy of the primary cosmic ray and is the most abundant component of charged particles arriving at the surface, and able to penetrate deeply underground.

Measurement of radio emission from extensive air showers
A new promising development in astroparticle physics is to measure the radio emission from extensive air showers. The particles in the cascade emit synchrotron radiation (30 - 90 MHz) which is detected with arrays of dipole antennas.

Self‐assembled CoO nanobeads on the Van der Waals surface of PtTe2 were synthesized through simple thermal annealing utilizing the residual oxygen in the annealing chamber. In this study, the electrocatalytic effect for oxygen evolution reaction from CoO nanobeads on conducting PtTe2 was confirmed, elucidating the new pathway to design a ...

The no-reflection regime of radar detection of cosmic ray air showers
The ionization front of a cosmic ray air shower propagates in the atmosphere with almost the speed of light in vacuum, i.e., faster than a radio wave in the air. There can be no reflection of a radar signal from such a front.

Lightning streamers and leaders need thermal electrons to initiate, but free electrons are extremely rare in the wet air of a thundercloud. Here we analyze the probabilities that high electron densities occur in extensive air showers.

Halide‐Exchange Arrest Enables Reabsorption‐Free CsPbCl3/CsPbI3 Perovskite Core/Shell Nanocrystals
Achieving large Stokes shifts in perovskite nanocrystals is challenging due to halide mobility that disrupts stable core–shell structures. Using CdCl2 passivation, this work stabilizes CsPbCl3/CsPbI3 heterostructures, yielding a ≈1.2 eV Stokes shift, high quantum yield, and fast exciton transfer, enabling reabsorption‐free emitters for advanced ...

Measurements of Decoherence in Small Sea-Level Extensive Air Showers
A study is made of the progressive ‘decoherence’ of cosmic ray extensive air-shower particle-detector signals in small air showers through measurements of coincidence rates for pairs of detectors versus the detector separation. Measurements are made both
